I cant cool down.

Had to go and buy 2 pedestal fans today.

Am sat with one blowing straight on me.

The minute I move, I melt.

Tell me this heatwave will soon be over!!!

BooWidger, Yep, i'm in Yeovil. I had DS in Yeovil maternity hosp. last Oct but i don't like to stay in so i had him at 4.48am and was home by 1pm the same day.
I'm so excited for you that LO is nearly here. The last part of pg goes so slow.

JeremyVile · 05/08/2007 15:31

I'm not pregnant but FAR TOO BLOODY HOT [sweaty mare emoticon].

Now if i could just figure a way of pinning DS to one spot .........

eandh · 05/08/2007 15:35

I understand was pregnant with dd1 all over the summer (born sept 04) I delayed going on my maternity leave till nearly 38 weeks as it was air conditioned office and so much cooler than being at home

Last year I was pg with dd2 but not as bad as she wasnt due till Jan but it was still hot and sticky and running around with toddler aaaarghhhh if I ever ever decide on no 3 I want to fall pregnant in July and have baby in April

kiansmum · 05/08/2007 15:45

eandh, I always wanted a summer baby but ended up with 1 born in dec, 1 in jan, 1 in oct and this one's due oct too so it didn't happen!(typical)
JeremyVile, it sounds like you're having fun with DS. Have you managed to pin him down yet?

JeremyVile · 05/08/2007 15:46

Kiansmum - yes, but he's very good at undoing the knots

kiansmum · 05/08/2007 15:49

JeremyVile, I feel for you. My tribe are the same with the knots!!!!

becklespeckle · 05/08/2007 15:52

Thankfully it is fairly cool in my house, had to pop out with DSs to library this morning and absolutely roasted as have no maternity shorts! Phew! Makes a change from the rain though and saves me a fortune not having to run the tumble dryer!

JARM · 05/08/2007 15:56

Well i went for a sleep - with the fan!

Ive been waking at really silly times lately, i was wide awake at 6am this morning so was flagging a bit!

its still no cooler, so still have the fan going!!

Got DH doing the childcare, the girls are ok so far just a bit groggy with the heat too - its even too hot for them to play out in the garden safely for any length of time

the house isnt too bad - have quite a breeze actually running through and have just woken up from a nice nap (taking advantage of breeze) as come nighttime I bet it will die down and be warmish.

The good news is that they are predicting that temps will drop to early 20's for the rest of the week! Fingers and toes!

RGPargy · 05/08/2007 17:29

My house usually has a fab breeze running through it but guess what? Yup, no bloody breeze today!!!

It's just sooooo hot here. I want to make a mac cheese for dinner tonight but the thought of standing over a cooker making a cheese sauce makes me feel sick!

I've just put another batch of icepoles in the freezer. They are being my saviour!

Ugh!! Us redheads aren't made for this heat!

MrsMar · 05/08/2007 17:33

I'm actually quite glad to be in work today, pathetic isn't it? The air conditioning is a god send!

RGPargy · 05/08/2007 17:33

Know that feeling Mrs Mar. Roll on work tomorrow. I love my cold office!

Cazzybaby · 05/08/2007 17:34

I braved the beach today but only lasted 3 hours it was way to hot down there!

PinkMartini · 05/08/2007 18:09

What's an ice-pole?

PurpleLostPrincess · 05/08/2007 18:28

I'm afraid I'm a lover of the hot weather so I'm loving it! I hate it when its wet and cold...

I've been to Tesco's earlier and ironed a load of clothes for DC's who have now gone on hols for a week with their dad.

I struggle on any normal day with swollen toes and feet and fingers and SPD so today is just the same but I more breathless and sweaty lol!

I had DD1 end of August ('98) and that was a hot summer but I survived. Saying that, I'm older this time and this pg seems to be harder than the others so I won't hold my breath!!!

To all those suffering, hope you find something that helps - try dipping your feet in a bowl of cold water!?

((waves at MrsMar!!!xx))

JARM · 05/08/2007 18:32

just had a cool shower..... it was lovely!!! still got the fans going - no breeze here at all, its stifling!

this is when i wish i was in an air con office!

Hi PLP ((((waves)))) I'm a lover of heat too, just not moving much in it

Here's to a cooling footbath for us all tonight! Yay!

RGPargy · 05/08/2007 20:10

pink martini - an ice pole is like a frozen squash drink but in a pole shape in a plastic wrapper that you snip the top off and just push the iced stuff out the top. Very refreshing!

MrsMar · 05/08/2007 20:13

hmmm that's what we used to call ice pops... fond memories of slurping them as a kid!

Jbck · 05/08/2007 22:42

Just switched the heating off cos I'm going to bed, I'm so . It hasn't stopped peeing down here the entire day, DD was grounded but she was quite happy 'cos no one was out anyway. It's been pretty nice here most of the week, odd shower but ok. It's to clear up midweek but we're off down to family in Yorkshire & it's to be wet apparently, can't win!
I'm quite sure a couple of weeks ago you were all moaning how rainy it was so be grateful for that big yellow ball in the sky because all too soon it'll be gone again

JARM · 06/08/2007 00:24

no no no no

give me rain and wind and freezing cold weather any day!

i hate the heat at the best of times, but 24weeks pg takes the piss!

Nbg · 06/08/2007 09:18

Its a bit cloudier here today and definatley cooler.
Had to sleep with the fan on all night, no covers and stark naked!

I've heard this week its meant to be cooler and to expect more rain.

I'm off to google "how to do a rain dance".

JARM · 06/08/2007 09:19

NBG - same here last night!!!

Cloudy here so far this morning, but still have the fan going! Need to go to the dump of all places today, so fingers crossed it stays cool!

OP posts:
RGPargy · 06/08/2007 14:45

Nbg - same here, minus the fan!!

JARM · 06/08/2007 14:50

WEll i went to the dump, have cleared out the car, hoovered the inside of the car, tried to get 3 car seats to fit in the back (only just, so think a new car in order - oh bollox)

i am not sweating my arse off, even though it isnt overly HOT today, muggy though so got fan going full pelt.

Anyone else finding the heat making them sleepy - im so so so tired!!!
