Ectopic heartbeats

Hi, I'm currently 26 weeks pregnant with my first and last week my midwife picked up a few extra heartbeats while listening to his heart, sent me for an echo which revealed his heart is healthy. However I still need to see midwife twice a week for the rest of the pregnancy, just wondering if anyone else is/has experienced this?

What do you mean by ectopic heartbeats?

Do you just mean the baby has a high heart rate?

No the heart rate is normal, he has a few extra beats though so an abnormal rhythm. In adults we would call it arrhythmia but in babies it's ectopic .

That sounds a very odd management plan. Usually if the echo is normal no further action is needed, I can’t see what the point of going so often is. Even if they hear ectopic beats again there’s no action to take. I would question it... who made the plan?

They do the checks regularly to see whether the baby’s heart starts racing at any point. If it does then they usually recommend a C-Section.
