Feeling less movement- 25 weeks

Have so far been feeling clear kicks for about a month, even occasionally feeling a foot poking out my right side! Baby has been quiet today and it's been playing on my mind. Have sat down in a position that usually elicits clear movements, had some cold water, and can feel some lukewarm flutters but not much. Call triage? Sleep on it? I imagine baby has just moved into a position where I can't feel much (placenta is anterior) but... dunno. Any advice?

As you are over 24 weeks, any reduction in movement should be investigated and not delayed. I'd call triage asap.

Goostacean · 17/08/2019 21:21

Hmm. Had a feeling that might be the answer. Have texted my midwife to see what she says.

Phone triage, you’d midwife probably won’t reply to texts at this time of day

BertieBotts · 17/08/2019 21:56

Phone and get checked. This is not a text the midwife situation.

RozTheSchnoz · 17/08/2019 21:57

Please go in and get checked out. It's not worth the worry. I went in with both of my pregnancies and my mind was soon put at rest each time. I wasn't made to feel silly either x

devilishlygood · 17/08/2019 22:15

Haven’t you had the literature on kicking?

Jazzxx · 17/08/2019 22:44

Like everyone else has said hun any change in baby's pattern should be mentioned to a health care professional but this early on they may not be too concerned as they don't usually regulate their patterns until nearer the 30 week mark. Try not to stress I know easier said then done. Cold drinks and have a bounce on your birthing ball if you have one can help. But never ignore it and never feel like your wasting their time they would rather see you everyday and nothing be wrong then never see you and their be a problem x best of luck x

My midwife wasn't checking her phone at nights and weekends; out of normal kind of office hours I was told to call triage and given phone numbers. Have you not had the movements chat with her? You should have been given details of where to call in emergencies or outside of 'office' hours. Check your notes. I don't think midwives are paid enough to be responding to texts on Friday nights when they're off the clock!

Definitely call. Don't mess around with movements. They'll probably have you go straight in.

Angelinthenightx · 17/08/2019 23:28

I hope that u have been seen.i got told any stage less movement for your baby should be checked. Its best to be safe x

Sorry, I should have clarified: I have a private midwife. She replied saying that monitoring is hard to interpret before 28 weeks so she'll check on me this morning but there's little point going in. She saw me throughout my last pregnancy and encouraged me to go in for reduced movements several times at the end of that, plus has 25-odd years of experience, so I trust her judgment, but thank you very much for your replies. From 28 weeks I won't hesitate to get seen. Baby is merrily kicking away this morning but has clearly changed position.

Glad baby is moving well this morning x x

KJ1988 · 21/08/2019 13:09

This happened to me several weeks ago at about the same point in pregnancy.

I called the birthing centre for advice (midwife takes a while to get back to me) and they advised to come in. They checked me over and checked baby with a doppler and were able to reassure me.

Probably nothing to worry about, but I was assured that I had done the right thing by getting checked.

Movements for me got much stronger the following week and much more consistent. Continuing to do so in my 28th week.

Hope this helps x
