I’m 23 weeks and had quite a lot of white discharge in this pregnancy. I noticed some in my urine today. I’ve read when it’s heavy it can “contaminate” urine. Im so scared of something going wrong my anxiety is through the roof! X

It's totally normal. It's only if the discharge becomes an unusual colour or smell or you get any irritation or itchiness that you need to have it checked out

Urine is a sterile waste product, you can’t really contaminate it inside the body.

And discharge is basically the same. Once they’re out of your body, they aren’t really doing much harm.

Don’t wipe from back to front, faeces in the vaginal or urinary tract can cause irritation and infection.

The contamination mentioned is probably to do with routine urine samples for midwife to dip test at appointments.

The best way to avoid this if you have a lot of discharge is to sit on toilet and wipe before you start to pee; allow a couple of seconds flow of urine then clench those pelvic floor muscles and stop flow of urine, get pot ready and then pee a bit more into pot before finishing down the toilet.

@Bambamber- thank you! I’m such a worrier. I had it for a few days about a month ago and managed to be quite calm about it. Had a scan since then and all is well.
It just freaked me out when I saw it again yesterday, pregnancy is so hard 😥 x
