Hi! I have my gender scan tomorrow. I’ll be 16+3!

Anyone who had a gender scan at this gestation have any tips? How much water should I drink beforehand etc?

I’m so excited!

No need for water beforehand. I had a can of fizzy soda, coke, to get her moving around as a few friends etc had warned me if baby doesn't position properly they can't get the potty shot & some if asleep won't move! The fizzy drink wakes them up & gets them moving.... Good luck tomorrow X

Thank you so much! How long before scan did you drink something fizzy? X

Fizzy drink is a good idea but I'd also go with a full bladder.

I went to Window to the Womb and when I booked they gave a big checklist of things to do - I basically just drank some cold juice before I went and then had a cup of water whilst waiting. The sonographer made me cough a few times to shift her but we got a very clear girl which was confirmed at my 20 week NHS detailed scan. I was 16+1 at my private scan. Good luck!!

Thank you everyone!
@Andersonx3 I’m going to WTTW! I saw the list too it’s pretty big lol! I thought I’d just ask any tips for anyone who’s experienced it! I’m 16+3 so really hoping to get it clear!

@Marshmallow1992 my scan was at about 4:30 and I ate a big lunch at about 2, then just drank plenty and we got great pictures. Don't stress too much Smile keep us updated!!

Tip: call it what it is- a sex scan to find out the sex of your unborn child. Sex= male, female or, rarely, intersex. Gender= stereotypical expressions of femininity/masculinity such as boys like blue, trucks, construction toys and girls like pink, dolls and make up kits

Marshmallow1992 · 17/08/2019 10:20

@joystir59 the scan I am going to is called a ‘gender scan’ on the WTTW website so I am calling it what it is.

@Andersonx3 thanks for all your advice! I’ll let you know!!

At my gender scan ( as it's called when booked) I was 16w and got clear boy. That was with window to the womb too

Andersonx3 · 17/08/2019 10:34

@joystir59 bet you're fun at parties.

Marshmallow1992 · 17/08/2019 10:41

@CrispSandwiches19 thank you for letting me know! I really think it’s a girl and will be surprised if it’s a boy but I’ll be finding out very soon!! 😁😁

I'm fabulous at parties and great at challenging gender stereotypes! Enjoy your scan, the rest of your pregnancy and the wonder of your new baby OP

starflake · 17/08/2019 12:11

@joystir59 as long as they are called gender scans people will call them gender scans. Simple really. A chair is called a chair so people call them that.
Women excited about finding out the gender/sex of their baby is a challenging opportunity for you, my my haven't you very little to be doing with you time.

Marshmallow1992 · 18/08/2019 07:19

It’s a girl! 💕
