Anyone prescribed Ondansetron on an SSRI?

Vomiting 30+ times a day and prescribed Ondansetron today. I actually ate a sandwich after the first tablet (most I’ve had in about a week). I happened to google the interaction between Ondansetron and citalopram (I’m on 10mg) and read worrying things about seratonin syndrome and now I’m a bit concerned to carry on taking it 😫 any experiences? It doesn’t actually say anything in the leaflet provided with the medication and surely it would’ve been flagged up by my doctor? Hoping someone has some experience

Sorry I don't have any advice but think you need to discuss this with your prescribing doctor.

I'm on ondansetron and fluoxetine - my dr did mention about the risk of serotonin syndrome but that it was very rare and I should just let her know if I began to feel unwell.

I'm on the lowest dose of both medications - I'm 39 weeks now so have reduced down to half my prescription for the ondansetron. I gather that it's also quite rare.

I agree though if you are worried do speak to the dr.

Sorry I should have added that in my personal experience I've felt absolutely fine, but obviously that's just my experience.

Thanks Pepparrot. Can I ask what dose of Ondansetron you were/ are on? I’ve been given 4mg tablets 3 times a day. Really relieved to have some input thankyou

Sorry, I forgot to reply to this. I'm prescribed 4mg twice a day of Ondansetron but I've only been taking 1 a day, however would have took the higher dose if necessary.
Would recommend the Hyperemesis boards on here, they're really supportive. Also Pregnancy Sickness Support are a great charity and they also have a helpline. They are on Facebook too.
Hope you feel better soon.

Just to follow up on this, I did get side effects when I took the Ondansetron on top of my citalopram. I got really strange insomnia (I just felt wide awake) sweats that came on every hour and anxiety leading to several panic attack’s. Of course I can’t say for sure that the effects I got weren’t psychosomatic but it wasn’t worth it for me and I came off them.
