Food shop

Does anyone else’s weekly food shop completely go out the window in early pregnancy. Suffering with nausea and only being able to eat carbs/take away food. My body hasn’t seen a fruit or vegetable in around 2 weeks. Problem is one minute I think I find something I can stomach for dinner then 5 minutes later the thought of it makes me 🤢. I feel like it’s going to be an expensive few weeks until it all settles down. I have no hope of planning meals when feeling like this because I can guarantee everything I order if I did a shop now, will turn my stomach next week.

This. I go to the supermarket and buy what I think I can eat that day but often by the next day I can't face it. I'm also on 'beige food' (I'm 8+1 with twins) but trying my best to get in a bit of fruit and veg here and there. I'm so with you on this - it's hard work.

Yes, and please don’t worry about it! I’m nearly 13 weeks with twins and was on a beige banquet for all my first trimester. Things I found which made it cheaper was pasta - a bag of pasta and some cheap tomato pasta sauce would make a few meals; I could even sometimes stomach sweet corn mixed in with that. Spuds - bag of potatoes is cheap or even a bag of oven chips. Also just toast and sandwiches - get a loaf of bread and some cheese etc. But honestly, whatever you can stomach is fine - I confessed my first tri addiction to McDonalds chips and she told me not to worry about it :) just make sure you are staying hydrated!

I had a couple of weeks like this. Beige, bland, easy to cook so most of it was processed crap. My breakthrough was with little satsumas and I'm getting over it a bit now.

I’m the same; I know I’ll make up for it once the sickness goes but I have no idea what to buy for now

Oh yes! The number of things I've enjoyed once, then bought again and ended up throwing out is getting ridiculous. Hopefully this will stop soon.

I’m so glad this is all normal.... stocking up on pasta and bread is a really good idea. Really fancying those freezer ham and cheese crispy pancakes tonight. I’m struggling to drink at the moment though. Nothing I can think of seems appealing enough to not want to be sick. Usually I would drink 3/4 cups of tea or coffee a day which I can’t stomach at all and around 1L plus of water. Liquid turns my stomach. Explained to DH that if he wants something other than beige food he might have to suggest it because that’s all my body is craving right now 😂

I'm exactly the same! Everything I used to eat is completely out the window which is extremely annoying as I do a monthly shop and plan meals accordingly. Not made a home cooked meal in over a week due to basically picking at it and generally feeling awful the entire time I was preparing/cooking it 😩
I'm hoping it doesn't last too long 🤞🏻
