Amniotic fluid has increased at 32 week scan

Hey ladies,

I had a growth scan today at 32+1. They said the baby is approx 4 pounds 11. Is this big as I thought it was?

The lady also said that my amniotic fluid has increased. The max vert pocket measurement was just under 8cm - my consultant that I saw afterwards said that the scan lady has wrote that it's increased but not to be worried, it's just at the high end of normal.

I am a massive worrier and I've since come home and googled... :-( now I am worried. Has anyone had this??? I'm so scared that at my next growth scan in 4 weeks it will be increased even more x

I had this - I had growth scans at 32, 34 and 36 weeks. 32 weeks and 34 weeks showed that there was excess fluid (above the normal range) but it had gone by 36 weeks. It's something they like to keep an eye on but is generally just one of those things.

I’m having growth scans every 2 weeks. My first fluid was like yours around 8cm at 27 weeks. Had my next one at 29 weeks off the scale at 10.8 cm.
Have another next week, have been checked for GD twice, and don’t seem to have it. Baby growing straight up the 50th percentile, and estimated weight at last scan 3lb8oz.
I think we are all different, but the hospital like to be careful. I have to admit I would rather that than them leaving it.
At the 8cm mine was just on high side and they weren’t to worried, so if they are happy than that’s good.
I would say, if you start to get a very tight almost bruised feeling to your bump I would mention it to them. That’s what happened to me as my fluid went up.

@mynameiscalypso I really hope this is the case with me! Unfortunately I won't know until 4 weeks time ☹️☹️

@Em39ma how are you now? Do they know why yours is high? X

Amniotic fluid does increase and decrease through pregnancy. If it is just in one scan it may just be that your baby has had a big wee!

@Becky6X no they don’t know why at the moment, but we have a family history of a lot of fluid. My mum and nan both flooded out the delivery suites when there waters went, they are just scanning fortnightly and have said I may have to spend the last few weeks of pregnancy in hospital, this is because they only want my waters to go there.
