I have the answer to all of our pregnancy constipation worries.

I owe my life to weetabix

I honestly cannot thank them enough.

After 2 weeks of painful piles and constipation, I am cured!

3 weetabix a day, at least 3 bottles of water, that's all you need!

No laxatives necessary.

I've been successfully to the toilet nearly 6 times today.

Weetabix I love you!

First trimester constipation is the WORST! Fresh orange juice always does the trick for me, too.

KWordy · 15/08/2019 17:16

Haha this did tickle me. I too have been constipated. Not helped by the fact I've been put on iron tablets. However success today after lots of orange juice also! Will also stock up on weetabix. Thanks 😄

And I wondered why I hadn’t had any constipation during my pregnancies— I do eat a LOT of Weetabix Grin

Not great for indigestion in the third trimester though, I have recently found!!

PoppingOneOutIn2020 · 15/08/2019 18:50

I'm off to France for 10 days next week..I'm taking a box of weetabix just incase I cant find any there!

Will also try the orange juice but a friend got national diabetes from her orange juice craving so I've tried to be really careful!

Weetabix is also not the best if you have gestational diabetes. Unless you do some exercise for around 15 minutes after eating it.

Cyclemad222 · 16/08/2019 07:39

Hate to tell you but postnatal constipation is also one of mother nature's delightful tricks!

PoppingOneOutIn2020 · 16/08/2019 12:44

I dont know if I'm worrying more about the actual birth of the nasty side effects of giving birth in the months afterwards Sad

Why cant pregnancy be blissful and not horrendously undignified?

I eat two weetabix Monday-Friday and they work great!!

LouH1981 · 16/08/2019 15:01

Ahh! Thank you! As if normal pregnancy constipation isn’t enough, I’m 6 months now and I’ve been prescribed extra iron. I haven’t been for days (sorry!) Where does it all go?! (Again, sorry!)
Anyway, Weetabix it is. Thank you lovely lady xxxx

xJune88 · 16/08/2019 15:04

This could be true you know... I need to get back eating it! I'm 13 weeks pp and didnt have a single bit of constipation during my pregnancy. Since birth I've been so blocked up and had such bad wind pains.. I've stopped eating weetabix... back to 2 a day I think!!!

LittleAndOften · 16/08/2019 15:08

Can't do weetabix, but dried apricots work for me!

userabcname · 16/08/2019 15:10

Yes! Agree! I actually can't have weetabix regularly (even when not pregnant) as it upsets my stomach but it's my go-to for constipation. Also: All Bran! Same effect.

PoppingOneOutIn2020 · 16/08/2019 22:48

Oh thank you high fibre breakfast.. and also going to invest in some dried apricots!

I'm 30 weeks pregnant and still get constipated
Iv just been eating apples and fresh fruit to try and help me pass ...it can be a little bit painful when I am constipated I don't know weather I'm coming or going to the loo 😂

smartcarnotsosmartdriver · 17/08/2019 08:16

I've been on the fruit and fibre for months, it's the best thing! I have a decent bowl every morning and it's such a help. I'm 25 weeks so luckily I figured this out pretty quickly.

KitKatCHA · 17/08/2019 08:22

Top tip - after the birth when they come round with painkillers, ask them for lactulose at the same time. Helps stave off the post natal constipation before it gets unbearably bad. I did this for babies 2 and 3 and it definitely helped Wink

daphine2004 · 17/08/2019 08:26

Eight ready to eat prunes daily, regardless of breakfast choice - although I’m having a lot of watermelon or some days carrots and hummus. Loads of water.

I can’t have fruit juice as the heartburn is really not worth it. In fact I’m avoiding any naughty treats in the main as the discomfort I get afterwards is unbearable!

donutrehomer · 17/08/2019 08:31

Strong black coffee, glass of prune juice in very quick succession.

First thing every morning, last thing every night.
