5W+3 Spotting

Morning Ladies,

I'm 5W+3 and I started spotting on Sunday (4W+6), it's only there when I wipe & it's only pink/brown. No bright red yet.

It's taken us a year to conceive so I'm little stressing about every little thing.

I did another test on Monday at 5w and it was so much darker than the test I did when we found out - which I'm taking as a good sign.

I'm just here for a little reassurance really.

I've spoken to Midwife & the Drs who don't seem to be worried. But I can't stop myself - figured if I heard some good news stories from people who suffered the same it may calm my nerves.

Hey, it’s called implantation bleeding, at 4wks+6 it would be roughly when you were due your next period and will almost definitely be nothing to worry about. HOWEVER, if you are still worried and it doesn’t stop then take yourself back to the dr and tell them you want referring to the early pregnancy unit. I bled profusely with this baby at 13 weeks (I’m 21 weeks now) and I mean A LOT!! It was a puddle! Went in for a scan and I have a sub chorionic hematoma! Never heard of that one before! It’s a pool of blood that has accumulated between the wall of my uterus and the baby’s sac! She is still in there kicking away but at the time no movement, told to rest, quite common apparently, still scared the life out of me and even now I walk on egg shells. Hope this helps you to feel better! The body is an amazing thing xx

Hey OP
I had an early bleed at 6+6 due to previous multiple miscarriages they took me in for a scan and dated me at 4+6. Went back 2 weeks later and heart was fluttering away 😍 my DD is now 3! She's my rainbow baby and the only successful pregnancy with an early bleed!

They indeed put mine down to an implantation bleed. Mine was bright red too.

Brown/dark blood usually means it's odd. Could just be your body getting rid of everything in preparation to house baby for the next 8 months! Congratulations and best of luck xx

Hi Op I'm a sonographer/radiographer. It could be an implantation bleed or it could be any number of things. Many women bleed during their pregnancy for no reason at all. It's a bit of a grey area. If the bleeding gets heavier or you experience pain, shoulder pain and feel unwell please contact your GP, midwife or EPAU.

Hi All thanks for your replies,

I spoke to Midwife originally and she said it wasn't anything to worry about but if it carried on or I got worried to ring GP.

I rung GP on weds and he didn't seem to give a crap really. Was basically told if I was losing the baby there was nothing anyone could do either way and he couldn't (wouldn't) refer to EPU until 6 weeks - even though the midwife had said that the drs could refer me early but they (the midwife) couldn't refer me until 6 weeks.

We're meant to be going on our honeymoon on Monday so I kind of want some reassurance either way. It's the uncertainty that I'm struggling with.

My GP surgery is rubbish so tempted to ring the Midwife again today - but then I don't want to become a nuisance.

I'm not getting any pains - which I'm guessing can only be a positive sign. And I've done a few extra tests and they've all been getting darker (although I know the hormones stay for a while even if it is a miscarriage).

Blurgh. Don't know how to feel.

The NHS rarely scans before 6 weeks and even then it’s the luck of the draw as some EPUs are nicer than others! I tried with 2 MCs to be scanned at 5+3 and 6+2 when I’d been spotting for a few days. You could try getting a private scan before your honeymoon to settle yourself enough to enjoy the holiday xx

Just because I never replied. I miscarried at 5w6. Ended up being in an out of EPU as I was still showing positive on tests/bloods between weeks 9/10 so they were worried it was an eptopic.

Hey hun i had something similar both times with my daughters and even had a bleed at 12 weeks with my second and all was fine.

I would say go drs if you want to be reassured but this is so much more common than you think! I'm sure all is fine. Sending love and hugs xxx
