I was told at 34 weeks my baby was a few ounces either side of 9lbs. So was shitting myself that he would end up a 12lb'er
I delivered at 40+5 and he was 10lbs 15. So a little lighter than what was predicted (at around half a pound a week for the last 4-6)
While that does sound large, he was my 3rd and the others weren't much lighter than him. I am also really tall too, my theory is the little buggers will grow as much as they can in the space available :)
Try not to stress about it, what will be, will be. You can't change it xx

Mine was 1 oz out. Not sure if that was by fluke as I’d heard they weren’t that accurate.

At 36 weeks I was told baby was 6lb5oz. She was born at 40+6 at 5lb13oz.

I had a growth scan at 40 wk 4 days and they said she was 8lb 12... induced at 41 weeks and baby born 8lb 1! So relieved!

BoardingSchoolMater · 14/08/2019 22:51

I was told that DC1 would be about 6.5 lb. He was over 10lb. I did say my mum had big babies, but nobody listened. I am 5 foot and tiny (despite having been a 10lb baby myself).

After the damage caused by Number 1, the others were ELCS. They were all bigger. All are over 6 foot now.

MyOtherProfile · 14/08/2019 22:53

I've hardly ever heard these be accurate. I. Fact they cause more damage because people panic unnecessarily about having big or small babies when they then come out normal sized. I long ago came to the conclusion that they just can't tell.

nuggles · 14/08/2019 23:03

I had a scan the morning DS was born and was told he'd be about 9lb.

He was 7lb 12.

Obviously not accurate

LetsBreakItDown · 14/08/2019 23:07

Had a growth scan at 36 weeks, told me baby was measuring at less than 5lb, she was in danger, needed induced to get her out and get her help ..... she was born 4 days later weighing 6lb 2oz. I wouldn't rely on estimated weight. What a load of shite!

20viona · 14/08/2019 23:10

I got induced at 37 weeks they estimated 5lb 6oz and she was 5lb 3oz.

JoJoSM2 · 14/08/2019 23:10

The estimates aren't completely accurate. Usually they're fairly accurate (say within a pound) but occasionally they're way off. DS measured large so I was induced at 39 weeks expecting a 9.5-10lb baby but he came out at 10lb10.

BananaFace5 · 14/08/2019 23:12

I was told 9-10lbs, came out 12lbs!

bellajay · 14/08/2019 23:14

I had three growth scans. Two predicted his actual birth weight, one was inaccurate and estimated him smaller.

physicskate · 15/08/2019 06:38

At 38 weeks, I was told she was about 7 lb. she was born at 40+5 (nearly 3 weeks later) weighing 6 lb 9oz. According to the scan, she should have been over 8lb by then.

StarringRole · 15/08/2019 06:56

I was told 6lb for my son at 37+6. He was born the day after weighing 7lb 6oz

idhavenoluckifitwasntforbadluc · 15/08/2019 06:58

I was told my last was going to be 6-7lbs, I was induced early due to him turning and he was 9lbs 2.

I don't think their too accurate op. I think it can go both ways though, try not to panic.
