Early scan. Miscarriage??

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone has experienced the same as me here...

Had an early scan last week and all was well. Dated me at around 5/6 weeks. Asked me to return the following week for a further scan.

However, during the second scan the sonographer said unfortunately there'd been not much growth and I'm to expect a failed pregnancy and would miscarry over the next few days. It's now 5 days later and nothing.

Has anyone had the same thing? Could they be wrong?

In my experience (4 miscarriages) no they hadn’t been wrong. All of mine were missed and it took my body quite a few weeks to recognise the loss. I’m so sorry for your news. Sending love x

Firstly, I'm so sorry to hear about your experiences. It's very sad. This is my second mc so I know how difficult it is. I suppose I was just hopeful they could be wrong. Clutching at straws maybe.

Out of interest, if you don't mind me asking, have you ever got to the bottom of your mc's?
We're considering having some tests done but not sure what they involve and maybe taking the medication that can help it along if there's a next time.

This isn't what we expected when we decided to try for a baby so any advice would be good.

Sending you love too xx

No there was no apparent reason they could find. I was put on to 5mg of folic acid for three months before future pregnancy and three months of pregnancy and 75mg of aspirin as they suspected blood clots could be the cause up to 36 weeks pregnant. I am pleased to say they worked for me as I’m now 32 weeks pregnant. I really hope they are wrong for you and that this has a happy outcome. Clutch those straws it sounds like your baby is wanted so badly and you can’t give up hope until you have to. If you need to talk further- advice, support whatever please get in touch I know how difficult these waiting times are xx

Oh wow! Huge congratulations to you. I bet you're very excited, not too long to wait now either but no doubt will seem like forever. But so worth the wait. Fantastic.

Oh, ok. I too was given the 5mg of folic acid to take this time but no aspirin. Maybe that's something they will try next time. I've also read they can give you some sort of hormone tablet to take also which can help the baby along. I'm willing to try anything but also worried all at the same time in case it fails again. Maybe we will have to resign ourselves to the fact it may not happen for us but I will remain hopeful for now. Not ready to give up just yet.

I'm back at the hospital for a repeat scan on Thursday so will find out more information on our options for round 3.

Thanks for your kind words and positivity. I wish you the very best for your future bundle of joy. Smile xx
