When did you feel baby?

Just after some reassurance really, 19+2 with first baby and not felt anything, not even a flutter and the midwife said to expect movement between 16-18 weeks, also I don't have a 'bump' as such more just a wobbly belly 😂 would love to hear similar experiences with feeling baby for the first time and when it became obvious you was pregnant, not just chunky 🥰

I think I was 20 weeks or so.
Had the hint of a bump about then.
Even at 6+ months I had to tell people I was pregnant, I was lucky and carried small.

I’m 34 weeks with my first baby. I didn’t get any movements until the night before my 20 week scan and it was the faintest kick!! From then on I started to feel more and more. Bump wise I didn’t ‘pop’ until later! So I was about 28/29 weeks when I would say it looked more round and people noticed! Even now at 34 weeks I don’t have a massive bump and get comments about how small it is 😏 everyone is completely different so don’t let it worry you if it is xx

Thanks ladies, makes me feel slightly more at ease, so much conflicting information online, I know everyone's experiences are different but couldn't help feeling my experience wasn't right!

Dont worry your self it will happen for you it's hard not to listen to others I'm the same I'm currently just over 20 weeks with baby number 4 and I had you should be feeling him move by now being your 4th and I was really concerned but just before I turned 20 weeks I felt movement it's still very low down for me just above bikini line and faint but it's there and I'm sure will soon be alot stronger hopefully you feel something soon it's the most amazing feeling but then you have the worry of if you dont feel them Haha the worry never stops does it

ChikiTIKI · 13/08/2019 14:08

I had about 3 hard kicks on a row the day before the 20 week scan. My cat was sitting on my belly and the baby seemed to be trying to kick it off!

The sonographer seemed concerned about the lack of kicks but it turned out to be because of the position of my placenta. I felt them a lot more after the 20 week scan.

My MIL started texting me every day after 14 weeks asking if I felt movements yet. I found it so stressful and it took everything in me to not reply ( rather than sending a message I might regret)

You will get the kicks soon I am sure :) xxxx

My MW asked me at the 16w appointment if I'd felt any movement (I had but only ever so slightly - very easy to confuse with digestion) but only because "it's your second baby, if it was your first I wouldn't even ask". She also said the location of my placenta (anterior) would make it more difficult to notice movement as the placenta is between the baby and the belly (outside). You can check the placenta position in your scan notes.

Floofsquidge · 13/08/2019 14:32

To say you should feel something 16-18 weeks is actually quite irresponsible in my opinion, especially if it's a first baby and you've never experienced it before. If you have an anterior placenta it's unlikely you'd feel anything until much later too. At that gestation it will be just flutters so it's hard to know what it is until the movement is stronger and you look back on those weeks. I had an anterior placenta and when I said I wasn't sure if I'd had any movement, midwife said I should feel something more obvious by 24-28 weeks. She was right.

ohdearymemumof3 · 13/08/2019 21:55

My first was 20 weeks.. second was 16 weeks.. third was 20 weeks, i am now 21 weeks with third, i thought id feel this baby sooner but it was actually later than my second i was surprised x

faelavie · 14/08/2019 08:27

It was around 20 or 21 weeks for me. I barely had any bump at your stage, either.

bessie84 · 14/08/2019 08:37

@ohdearymemumof3 - youve made me feel better. im on bump number 5. 16+ weeks and i felt movement before now with my others but not this one, worried me. so thanks for that.

OP - my very first baby, was about 24 weeks .

Everafter1 · 14/08/2019 10:01

A couple of days after my 20 week scan. For me it felt like a bubble being popped.

Dp has been able to feel them from 21 weeks.
I've been getting kicked like mad ever since. Once you feel it there's no mistaking.

Teddybear45 · 14/08/2019 10:39

I was feeling movement from 16 weeks but was confusing it with gas. Could you be doing the same?

tisonlymeagain · 14/08/2019 11:23

First pregnancy was about 20/21 weeks, not unusual to not feel it until then and it wasn't regular until about 23/24 weeks.

Second time around I think it was a bit earlier around 18/19 weeks.

Pregnant now, currently 15+3, not felt anything yet.

ohdearymemumof3 · 15/08/2019 07:51

@SamT210 awh good definitely dont worry! 😘 i am 21+5 now and still only feel baby if i am laying on my side or sitting up leaning forward ( probably squashing her thats why haha ).. xx

Chitarra · 15/08/2019 07:52

With my first it was at 20 weeks and very faint. Earlier with the second and third pregnancies.

BarleyG · 15/08/2019 23:49

I never felt anything with my first! Only 12 weeks with my second so I’m not sure yet if I’ll feel anything or not

Horehound · 15/08/2019 23:52

23/24 weeks

ComingButGoingGone · 16/08/2019 00:28

I felt DS at 16 weeks but it was barely anything I started to feel him properly around 20/21

Aneley · 16/08/2019 11:15

This is my first. I think I felt something around 18w, but not sure. I definitely started feeling her more this week (21w) but it is still not regular. Her 20w scan was perfect and midwife told me not to worry if I don't feel her properly until 24-25w. Hope this helps!
