Im normally a massive meat lover, I went to a bbq at 12 weeks and ate burgers chops etc, went to another bbq at 13 weeks and all I could stomach was the salads, pasta etc.

Im 14+1 today and I tried to eat chicken on Saturday and spewed my guts up, its literally like my body is rejecting it?

Has anybody else had this? Will I harm the baby if Im not eating meat?

Im honestly the last person on the planet that would go veggie but all I want right now is salads, pastas.

Also… can I eat cooked cheese and broccoli Quiche gone cold??? Because this is something else I am fancying!!!

How odd! I am PG and absolutely craving meat all the time. Particularly deli meat which is off limits.

You’ll be absolutely fine being veggie, just try and eat lots of protein (beans, pulses, dairy etc)

Will I harm the baby if Im not eating meat?

In case that’s a serious question, of course not.

I’m veggie and when I was pregnant I went off a lot of things. I basically lived off dairy and fruit for a few months.

AuntieMaggie · 12/08/2019 10:55

I'm off most meat (unless it's bacon, burgers or sausages) especially chicken which I used to eat loads of!

I think the quiche should be fine especially if it's been in the fridge...

ohmysoul · 12/08/2019 10:58

I'm vegetarian and was throughout my pregnancy and didn't harm my daughter (who is almost 2 and also vegetarian). You'll be fine. Cold, refrigerated quiche will also do no harm.

I'm vegan and having the opposite problem, really craving roast chicken!! 😭 I guess I have an omni baby?? I'm at the point now where I've got so many food aversions, I'm just having to eat what I crave! I was worried I might be lacking nutrients so queried it with midwife - she confirmed it's nothing to do with deficiencies. So just eat what you fancy, hopefully your appetite will go back to normal once baby arrives :)

Wiltshirelass2019 · 12/08/2019 11:19

Yep I’m having the opposite problem, I can’t get enough beef 😂 I’m sure you’ll be fine, eat some eggs to get your iron and vitamin b12 x

@Ghost88 I have the same issue and I've had it since week 6. Basically since the nausea started. I absolutely hate meat. Usually I love meat and I eat chicken every day. That's all I usually eat. My diet usually consists of high protein low carb stuff like chicken and veggies / a lot of salads and some fruit. Now I pretty much can only eat toast, pasta, rice, potatoes, pretzels and so on. I can stomach the odd salad or bruschetta type thing and occasionally I can eat a bit of chocolate. But that's basically it. Not a great diet at all. I feel so huge and disgusting already. But I've spoken to the midwives and they said just take your prenatal vitamins and eat what you can stomach! So I wouldn't worry about it !

nicannie · 12/08/2019 11:24

I'm also the same as you! Usually love all meat, but unfortunately now I can't stand the look of chicken / red meat etc etc. Every time someone even mentions eating chicken for tea it just turns my stomach! I'm living on pastas, vegs and salads as well. I'm 9w+2 so it might all change again !

GingerRogers84 · 12/08/2019 11:31

I can't even think about chicken right now! 👀

ChihuahuaMummy1 · 12/08/2019 11:41

I wish I hadn't craved meat during my pregnancy,! I put a ton of weight on! I had a boy and old wives tales suggest that craving meat=boy so were right in my case.

Ghost88 · 12/08/2019 11:43

Thanks all, so nice to hear you're not alone isnt it?
Talking of prenatal vitamins, whats everybody taking? I have been taking Seven Seas multi vits, but I worry they're making me feel more nauseas!! could be in my head, but thinking of switching for the rest of my pregnancy...

Re multi vitamins, I take the pregnacare complete ones. They haven’t made me nauseous but I take them with my dinner then am in bed not long after so no time to make me feel sick

cliffdiver · 12/08/2019 12:05

I was sick after eating chicken in a restaurant when I was about 5 weeks pregnant with DD2.

I didn't touch any meat again until way into the third trimester (almost full term). The thought of eating it made me gag.

Interestingly, DD2 didn't like meat when she was weaning and up until she was about 3 she wasn't really fussed about eating it at all Now she's at school she can still take or leave meat and she'll often chose the veggie options at lunchtime.

Abi58 · 12/08/2019 12:18

Me! I've gone off most meats and a lot of foods that are nice so atm all I can stomach is bland and plain :(
Lunch time I'm the best and can usually stomach meat but I have to force myself to put it near my mouth but when I eat it I'm fine. Evening not a chance (although I'm barely eating anything in the evenings)

chunk14 · 12/08/2019 12:20

My first pregnancy i couldnt eat any meat. This second one all i want is porkpies and chicken.

userabcname · 12/08/2019 12:21

My first pregnancy I couldn't eat meat! DS is definitely a meat eater though!

Ginandtonic31 · 12/08/2019 12:27

I'm 9+3 and can't stomach meat either. I'm living in absolute junk! I used to try to keep my carbs down but it's all I want. I tried to eat lamb which I love and couldn't do it. I never fancy meat for dinner either. I need to find some veg recipes! But I also don't fancy salad or plain veg!

Lucafritz · 12/08/2019 12:35

You can't take seven seas multi vitamin when pregnant it has vitamin A in which can cause brain damage in babies has to be a pregnancy vitamin with folic acid

Ghost88 · 12/08/2019 12:44

@lucafritz sorry thats what I meant, I have been taking Seven Seas folic acid pre baby - and then when I fell I started taking the seven seas pregnancy tablets, they have folic acid and other vitamins in .. x
