hello,

i had unprotected sex 15 days ago .. i took the morning after pill after 120 hours, i had been on desostregel for a lot less than 48 hours when the sex occurred, then 5 days later took the MAP (the reason i took it so late was because i didn't realise the sex would be constituted as unprotected)

this morning i took a morrisons pregnancy test but it said negative, however, upon reading the pamphlet it said that it can be tested as early as 4 days before missed period.. so i dont know if ive tested too early.

unfortunately i dont know when to test from as i had a MEDICALLY ADVISED surgical termination in july (i had tested 2 weeks after and that showed as negative)

although i have suffered from replacement baby feelings i only went ahead and had sex as the doctor said i'd be protected after taking 2 pills, after speaking to other health care professionals they have said the opposite !!

i don't know what to do???

not sure when to test, i am scared that i am pregnant as my breasts are tender and i am feeling tired and extremely moody.
xx

Breast tenderness, feeling tired and moodiness can all be signs of pms, add in that you’ve recently started on hormonal contraception and had a termination which can affect when you ovulate it would be very difficult to advise when would be the best time to test again.

A lot of hospitals/clinics advise using the date of the termination as the first date of the following cycle if you’ve no had a natural bleed following the procedure. What date did you have the op and what date did you have the negative pregnancy test after it?

I think you may have to wait till you get your first breakthrough bleed since starting the pill (or don’t, as the case may be) or keep testing at 2–3 day intervals until then to get an answer one way or the other.

It's doubtful that you'll be pregnant, and the way you are feeling is probably due to the hormones you've been taking as well having had a very recent termination. I wish you all the best.

Sperm can survive in the reproductive tract and fertilise an egg for up to 5 days following ejaculation, so if you test 19 days after the unprotected sex (which would be 14 days after the latest date at which fertilisation could have occurred) you should have a definitive answer. I’d be inclined to use a first response as I have generally found them to be pretty reliable.
Try not to worry too much though. Your body has been through a lot very recently, and the breast tenderness etc may well be a feature of your hormones getting back on track. All the best.
