So after 2 miscarriages I’m finally pregnant! 5 weeks today! Found out at 4 weeks and 2 days but had 3 very very strong positive tests!
I’m very bloated already and get little period pain cramps is this common?
Has anyone had anything similar

Congratulations! Yes period like pain is very common, especially at the 5/6 week mark. I had it with all mine, the last time I was convinced I was miscarrying, the period pains were that bad. But no I wasn't and have 3 healthy children.

Thatgirl123 · 11/08/2019 06:06

Aww! Yeah they aren’t too bad atm just like a sharp period pain then it goes and it’ll come back later on. I get it after sex too then it eases after 5-10 minutes x

Both are common early pregnancy symptoms

Secretlifeofme · 11/08/2019 06:13

Congratulations OP! This may not be a popular view but after 3 miscarriages I was advised by a gynaecologist to avoid sex until after 12 weeks. It was really difficult!! but we persevered and I am now almost 29 weeks with a healthy baby. Just something to think about maybe and I know this isn't advice that is given to everyone.

Hello at 5 weeks I too had some tummy aches. I had it in the evening for about an hour. That went on for two nights in a row. It did worry me at the time because I also have had two mc's. however I had a scan at 7 weeks, 8 weeks and 10 weeks and baby was fine :)
I read that it's really common to have period like cramps at 5 weeks. It still didn't make me feel any better at the time though ❤️

VenusStarr · 11/08/2019 08:06

Congratulations @Thatgirl123 🎉 sorry for your losses. I am 4+5 after a missed miscarriage in April and very conscious of cramps and that area in general. Just hoping all is OK. I'm feeling too anxious to dtd yet, but having an early scan sometime next week when I'll be 6+ weeks.

@Secretlifeofme good to see you doing so well ❤️

Abi58 · 11/08/2019 08:12

Sorry for your losses 💕 congratulations on your pregnancy ☺️
I had period pains (I don't normally have them so although they weren't bad technically they were worse than my usual) I had it until about 6 weeks with sharp pain down there.
At 8 weeks I had it again (when my 2nd period would have been due)
And also had ewcm around the time period would have been due and when I would have ovulated....weird lol

Secretlifeofme · 11/08/2019 08:22

@VenusStarr thank you, that's really kind of you Flowers Smile

Secretlifeofme · 11/08/2019 08:23

Oops sorry @VenusStarr posted too soon!! Meant to say congratulations, that's fantastic news!! Xx

Thatgirl123 · 11/08/2019 08:55

@barnyb how did you get the early scans? Xxxxx

I paid privately for 7 week scan. And the 8 week and 10 was through the hospital. I called my EPU unit and explained my anxiety over my previous mc's and they gave me two for reassurance. always worth a try! I know they won't give a scan until your past 6 weeks as nothing to see. Also worth waiting until 7 weeks because then you are more likely to see the heartbeat xxx

VenusStarr · 11/08/2019 09:54

@Thatgirl123 my epu are doing my early scan because of my mmc. If they weren't I'd pay privately.

Thank you @Secretlifeofme, trying to get through these first few weeks, it's hard! Currently taking it hour by hour! X

Thatgirl123 · 11/08/2019 14:57

Do I just discuss this with my midwife? Once I get an apt with her I’ll mention it and see what she says x

VenusStarr · 11/08/2019 15:14

I'm not booking in with the midwife until after the scan @Thatgirl123. I saw the doctor last week and he agreed. The epu told me to call them when I got my bfp. I called last week and they said to call at 6 weeks and they'd see me.

Did you go to the epu with your miscarriages?

Thatgirl123 · 11/08/2019 15:28

No I don’t know what that is? I wasn’t referred to see anyone after my Mc

VenusStarr · 11/08/2019 15:55

Sorry @Thatgirl123, it's the early pregnancy unit at the hospital. Were your other miscarriages early on?

ablades · 11/08/2019 15:55

Yes the cramp is very normal,

Initially I was late and kept getting period like pain and thought it was due any day... and then I found out I was pregnant and still
Got the cramp. It only kind of stopped for me last week at week 9! So don’t worry just your uterus stretching xx

Thatgirl123 · 11/08/2019 17:03

@VenusStarr first one I was 6 weeks second I was 3/4 weeks
