I'm posting here because I'm around 8 weeks pregnant, and not sure where else to post. Today I went to out of hours with a chest infection, had a temp of 37.8 so not too bad. As I've come home I cannot stop shaking my heart is racing and my temperature has gone up to 39, my question is shall I wait for antibiotics to start working or do I call back? Feeling really awful!

Dial 999
This could be sepsis.
Really

I would call back because of your high temp even if they dont see u just to put your mind at ease, its best to get advice.
Hope u feel better soon x

I wouldn't call 999 but I'd get a lift or a txi to A&E to get yourself checked over as you may have pneumonia. A high temperature on its own doesn't suggest sepsis.

Signs of sepsis IN ADULTS include:

  • acting confused, slurred speech or not making sense
  • blue, pale or blotchy skin, lips or tongue
  • a rash that does not fade when you roll a glass over it, the same as meningitis
  • difficulty breathing, breathlessness or breathing very fast

They may not have all these symptoms

YY to getting a lift or taxi to A&E right NOW, I wouldn't wait for an ambulance, especially on a Saturday night. Hope you're ok Flowers.
