Any advice on morning sickness? Honestly I feel like death

I feel utterly horrific. It lasts all day. I have regular small amounts of plain food (toast or a cracker), I drink water, plain broth, or some sugary drinks which normally I can't stand but I'm so weak that I can't get any sugar otherwise. I've tried ginger- ginger biscuits, ginger ale, fresh ginger and lemon in hot water...

I just keep vomiting. The nausea is the worst though. It's so awful I'm mainly just bedbound which isn't me at all.

Enough is staying down for me to maintain a normal blood pressure, so I don't need a hospital and I'm hoping it's not HG and will go away by 14 weeks. I'm 8 weeks exactly.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Cool water over your wrists/neck can help

Lemon or lime water also helped me

I know you feel awful but keeping busy helped me (just have access to a toilet)

If you can’t stop vomiting & generally can’t function, it sounds like HG.. that’s not to say it won’t start to get better from 14 weeks, not all HG pregnancies involve sickness the whole time.

I’d personally speak to your doctor for some advice. They’ll check there’s no ketones in your urine from not enough liquid.

My blood pressure is generally normal but I’ve been in hospital 3x this pregnancy (I’m 8.5 weeks).. I’m on a pretty high whack of anti-sickness and I’m still struggling to eat or drink. It’s an awful time but this is my second & the severity did start to ease from 14 weeks last time to the point I felt reasonably OK by 20 weeks.

I appreciate taking meds isn’t everyones choice but you do need to think about your own health. Becoming dehydrated & very unwell is more of a risk to your baby than medicine. If you are really struggling, at least have a chat and once over from your doctor to check you are doing ok!

I had horrific hyperemesis, buccol tablets (anti emetics) and the HG board here were my lifesavers!

Fentiman's ginger beer.

Anti sickness medication from your GP. Lots of different ones to try so you can find the one that works best for you. Don't put up with feeling like this when you don't have to. You'll end up needing hospital treatment otherwise. Feel better soon Thanks

You could go and get antisickness meds from the gp. Sleep, sleep, sleep as much as you can! I always felt worse when tired.

Get to the GP and ask about anti sickness medication.
It sounds like you are beyond a ginger biscuit and need some proper help!

Cyclizine worked well for me, kept the vomiting away enough for me to get back to work and be relatively normal.

Good luck!

I wore sickness bands! They are aimed at travel/morning/chemo sickness, I believe they helped me!

I felt awful from about 5 weeks through to 16. What I will say is it did end for me so hope there will be an end for you too.

Do seek medical advice though if you continue to be vomiting

Even if it’s ‘just’ severe morning sickness and not HG, it can still be awful and completely debilitating. Get yourself to the doctors and ask to try the meds, hopefully they’ll help until it passes.
