Blood pressure

I had mine done routinely the other day and it was 98/59. Isn’t this a bit low? The nurse didn’t seem concerned but it seems low and I do get dizzy spells (was on medication for vertigo before I got pregnant and had to stop it). Wondering if my dizziness is down to my bp? I’m 23 weeks.

It is lowish, but not significantly so. My normal reading is 100/60 and I am in my 60s.

You need to make sure you are drinking plenty, and also ask your midwife to check your Hb results.

It does sound as if this might be due to the vertigo that you now cannot take medication for, what does your GP think?

Mine was 100/60 at my 16 week midwife appointment. At my booking appointment I think it was something like 125/75. My midwife said it was normal for women to have lower blood pressure in the second trimester, so maybe that's why yours wasn't concerned.

Mine has been low throughout. At my last appointment at 38+6 it was 90/60. I fainted a couple of times but nothing to suggest it was anything other than low blood pressure. I would say your dizziness is because of your bp if you're not having any other problems.

As well as the obvious advice not to lie on my back, I was also advised to take my time getting up from bed/chairs, drink plenty, stay cool, keep yourself fed etc.
