Hi,
Im 40 weeks pregnant and had urine incontinece for a while now but as a larger size lady ive had a major fear of going the doctors to get it checked. Im now at the end of my pregnancy and now soon I will have a vaginal examination and know someone is going to see it, I was offered a sweep today but turned it down due to being embarassed. I'm thinking of maybe trying to book a doctors appointment asap for them to look at it. anyone else had similar experience?

When you say you have had urine incontinence a while now, do you mean it started pre pregnancy? What are you worried they are going to see from a vaginal exam? There is nothing to be embarrassed about, they have honestly seen it all before. I have been through both Incontince and retention and all medical professionals I have dealt with have been very sensitive and made me feel as comfortable as possible. And it's probably more common than you think

By not talking about it you won’t be offered the referrals to physiotherapy that you need. Tell your mw now. Make sure you do all your pelvic floor exercises and follow up with the referral after the birth. It’s quite common for obese women to have weaker pelvic floors after pregnancy but it can improve.
