How accurate are the fundal height measurements? At 28 weeks I was measuring at 29cm and this week at 31 weeks measuring exactly 31cm. Not sure how it works and if it’s more or less than it should be what does it actually indicate?

They’re not particularly accurate as so many factors affect how big your bump is however they give an indication to your midwife as to how well your baby is growing. Should be roughly same number of cm for the number of weeks you are so you sound bang on what would be expected. I had a growth scan in my second pregnancy as bump hadn’t grown enough, scan showed normal growth & she was 8lb when born. It’s a generic method applied to all pregnancies really just to give an indication as to whether any further investigation might be necessary.

Number of weeks should correlate number of cm when measured but 2cm more or less is within normal. If your bump measured much bigger or smaller than your weeks they should refer you for a growth scan to check on baby and the fluid around them. From what you’ve posted, your measuring in line with how many weeks you are which is reassuring.
