I am currently 30 weeks pregnant with 3rd baby. First and second labours being 17 & 13 years ago!!!
Both pregnancies were fine, no problems at all, until it came to labour.
First labour with son I kept getting sent home with the hospital telling me I wasn’t ready yet. 52 hours later son still not made his appearance and despite being in full blown labour and pain for those hours, I’ve not dilated passed 3cm. Registrar then decided to send me for c-section.
Second labour with daughter - aware of my first labour, tried for 15 hours, but still did not progress passed 3cm. again sent for another c-section.
I can’t help but feel that the same will happen again this time, that I will hit that 3cm barrier and then c-section will be needed. I initially felt that I would like my body to naturally go in to labour and see what happens and if it goes the same way as before, so be it. I couldn’t quite imagine booking for an elective c-section and not experiencing any of the labour pains and the excitement of it all.
However I had an appointment with the obstetrician yesterday and I’m now not sure which is the best route to go down. Obviously, safety of baby is paramount and I do not wish to put myself or baby at any risk, but he has said there isn’t a lot of research on VBACS after 2 c-sections. He did tell me of the 1;200 odds of ruptures and complications of VBACS after 1 C-section and I guess these increase after 2 C-sections? I feel he was steering me towards booking for a c-section. I’m happy to go with whatever is advised to me by the experts but just feel a little sad that I won’t get to experience any of the labour so to speak.
Anyone here safely delivered baby vaginally after 2 C-sections? I have 4 weeks to make my final decision and I am now thinking it’s probably safest to book an elective c-section but just wondered what anyone else’s thoughts and advice would be?
Apologies for long post!
