Hello,
I have my 12 week scan today at the QEUH in Glasgow, and I was wondering if anyone knew if you get a copy of the photos for free or if you have to pay? And if so, how much are they? I want to make sure I've got the right amount of cash on me ☺️

Not in Scotland but last time I had one i think it was £6 for 3 - they only trade pound coins in the machine - might have gone up since then though as was a few years ago

TitianaTitsling · 07/08/2019 07:32

I think I gave a £5 as it was all I had on me, it's really a donation

TitianaTitsling · 07/08/2019 07:33

And l just handed it to the the sonographer and got a handwritten receipt. Am in Scotland

NotSoThinLizzy · 07/08/2019 07:43

At my hospital its £10 for three pics the money stays within the hosp so I didnt mind.

Goose4 · 07/08/2019 07:46

Thanks for the replies! I'm more than happy to pay for them, but I've only got a £20 note on me so might need to buy something beforehand so I have something smaller!

Two years ago the sonographer just gave me the photos. I still haven't worked out where you are meant to pay.

QEUH / Southern is a great hospital, especially if things don't go as smooth as you'd like!

m0jit0 · 07/08/2019 07:52

The sonography gave our pics to us directly and there was a donation box to pay if you wanted to (I assume everyone did)

Glitterkitten24 · 07/08/2019 07:54

Three years ago it was a donation for scan pictures at QEUH. I think there was a box, I definitely didn’t give it to the sonographer. Good luck with your scan! 😀

I had my 12 week scan at the Queen Elizabeth a couple of weeks ago and didn't have to pay anything for scan pics...didn't even realise that was a thing! The sonographer just handed them to me at the end.

Rudyroo · 07/08/2019 08:01

I wish I had given a donation now! Enjoy your scan. It's amazing Smile

Kay1341 · 07/08/2019 08:06

I had scans in QEUH, Wishaw and Hairmyres and never paid anything, is it not only Trusts elsewhere in UK that charge for these? Never heard anyone paying for them here.

Sadie789 · 07/08/2019 08:09

I was asked for a donation arc QUEH 3 years ago with DC 1, I think I gave £10.

However just had DC 2 a few weeks ago at QEUH and no one asked for money, in fact I had monthly scans and was given a bunch of photos every time.

OccasionalNachos · 07/08/2019 08:14

I was just given mine for free

Goose4 · 07/08/2019 08:20

Thanks everyone! That's interesting that people haven't had to pay recently in Scotland! Everything I've read on the internet has said you usually have to pay a small cost, but I suppose that could be England-focussed rather than Scotland 😊
And thanks for the well wishes! I'm nervous but also excited. Fingers crossed it all goes well

When you get the letter with your scan appointment it usually says on there about photos and cost so If there was nothing on the letter then it's probably free/donation

NewMama2Be · 07/08/2019 13:28

Didnt know donations were a thing either, QEU here and I've had a bunch of photos from every scan just given to me FOC! Even at a recent growth scan 30+ they gave me a couple (didn't expect that at this stage) because they got some good profile pics of her and her wee button nose 😍

xTinkerbell · 07/08/2019 13:32

I had both my scans at QUEH, last one was just last week & didn't have to pay either. Didn't even know donations were a thing

Goose4 · 07/08/2019 14:40

Everyone's advice and experiences about the QEUH were right!
The sonographer finished the scan and then just handed me 5-6 photos. I've already put one on the fridge! Very exciting to see our little bean wiggling about 😊

Oh, and I couldn't see anywhere to leave a donation, so that must just be a thing at other hospitals
