Bleeding after D&C - never ending!

A few weeks ago, I had a D&C to remove some tissue from an incomplete miscarriage.

I had light bleeding for 2 weeks following the D&C. By the 3rd week, this changed to brown discharge, so thought it was stopping. However, 4 weeks post-surgery, I started bleeding more heavily. I rang the hospital a few times and they said providing I wasn’t filling a pad every 15 minutes, not to worry. I had heavy gushing for a few hours each day but it would ease off. I believed this was my period, as did one of the nurses at the hospital, so carried on as normal.

It’s now 5 weeks post surgery and i’m still bleeding. It’s not heavy but i’m getting period cramps for a few hours each day. I’m guessing this is definitely my period due to the cramping. I’m on holiday now and struggling to relax because of it.

Anyone had a similar experience to me after a D&C? I feel like the bleeding is never ending.

Youneed to go back to the doctor. That isnt normal.

Yeah, that doesn't sound normal to me I'd go back to your Dr and get them to check that everything was removed. After mine I had cramping and bleeding straight after and then light spotting/watery bleeding for about a week.

@SeaToSki @Kinsters Thanks for your replies. The doctor said they did an ultrasound after the d&c and confirmed everything was gone.

Hello @BeckyP321

I had a very similar situation. I think I bled for about 45 days in the end. I was, eventually, sent for a scan (after being passed from EPU to GP to the ward I was on after my D&C) just to confirm that everything had gone - I just had a large blood clot that seemed to be 'struggling to get out'. It did clear up eventually, but I know it's not nice!

Fingers crossed it stops soon Flowers
