Extremely irregular yolk sak- early miscarriage?

Hi ladies,
Ok, so a bit of a bizarre question- has anyone had an extremely irregular yolk sak (not at all rounded) in an early pregnancy scan.
I just had a 6-7 week scan and the yolk sak looked very abnormal... all the reading I’ve done online shows this is isn’t very common and I’ve come across some pretty scary statistics from studies linking it strongly to miscarriage... :/
Thanks so much!

What did the sonographer say about the shape / irregularity? Did you see a heartbeat / foetal pole?

When I had an early scan it was clear the sonographer was telling us it was bad news and I had a follow up appointment 2 weeks later. Are you due to go back for another scan?

Hi Venus, thanks so much for your reply. The midwife did the scan rather than the ultrasound tech and didn’t seem to notice it (although to me, it looked so strange!) They did see the fetal pole and flickering heartbeat though and I’m scheduled to go back in 3 weeks...
I really don’t want to get my hopes up with this pregnancy- I’ve already had a few issues incl. some red bleeding last week.
Was your yolk sac also quite irregular? Mine almost looks like a star.... :/

Are you trained to look at an ultrasound? What are you basing it on? Midwifes generally don't do scans so the midwife you saw must have had sonography training to be able to do it. In any case if you don't know what your looking for they are incredibly hard to read. The fact that they saw a heartbeat is excellent. Good luck
