Hi again,

Probably sick of me posting but I'm a very nervous and confused first time mum.

We were told that our baby is on the 95th percentile at 31 weeks.

I have no clue what this means and I've been on google all night but I'm struggling to understand. I did ask the midwife but she laughed and said she's entered us into a Research trial for big babies - that was it.

Can anyone tell me what this means?

I'm due October 7th, will he be coming early?

I'm very stressed out I haven't been able to sleep for worrying

At a very basic level, it means that your baby is expected to be bigger than 95% of other babies. So he might be on the bigger side when he's born; it doesn't mean he'll come early necessarily or that it's even right. It's notoriously hard to work out the size from a scan especially relatively early on in the third trimester. Please try not to worry, it's not a bad thing at all - it just means baby is growing well!

Was this done by measuring your bump or by a growth scan? Only because I had the exact same panic as you after being told ours was at the 95th! But then they sent for a growth scan and he was actually only in the 66th! But either way, nothing wrong with big babies🤗

@C305 this was done by a growth scan, We had to have him checked after an episode of reduced movements.

They want me to meet with a consultant at 36 weeks after having another scan
