What is going on with my bowels! TMI alert

Hi all

TMI, sorry. I'm so fed up with this, have tried googling but nothing. Basically I don't know whether I am constipated or not and don't know what to do. I'm 30 w pregnant. Started about a week ago, I feel constipated all the time like something is stuck. Fine - normal I thought. I increased fibre, fibrogel etc. Got some lactulose yesterday so have taken 3 doses so far.

But I'm constantly feeling like I need to poo desperately, like that sicky feeling you get when you are getting diarrhea. So I rush to the loo, only for nothing to happen. This started before lactulose etc btw.

If I wasn't pooing at all I would think ok this is just what constipation is like. But I am having one poo a day, albeit with difficulty, but then to complicate things further the poos are not hard as expected!!

So what is going on? Am I overthinking this? I feel like I can't eat anything as I have to rush to the loo, but I'm also scared of continuing constipation treatments if I'm not constipated. I don't usually suffer from digestive probs so I don't know what to do and it's making me miserable. Sad

TIA

That sounds very miserable. I have nothing to say that will help, as I've no experience of this, but I'm replying to give your post a bump so others might see it.

Can you ring your GP or midwife for advice? Or a pharmacist at the chemist? You can speak to them on the phone if you can't get to the shop

Thanks Andromeda! I did talk to MW about it, but she just recommended the usual constipation relief things.

Do you think it's possible you have an internal haemorrhoid? It could feel a bit like a blockage and like there's something that needs to come out?

Bit disgusting but try having feel and see if there are any lumps.. Then go to Dr as they'll probably give you some cream for it x

Oh god @Inthesky42 I didn't think of that! Will have a look later. Been lucky so far with piles

I came on to say haemorrhoid too, I haven’t experienced them yet but DH has and describes similar to what you have said.
I believe things like annusol are safe for pregnancy but check with your midwife first!
