Advice for a first time mum

Hey, I'm a first time mum, 31 weeks

No complications, healthy BMI.. no GD (tested at 27 weeks due to family history) ivf pregnancy but no other risk factors

Went in over reduced movements (all turned out fine) and was referred for a growth scan

Turns out baby is 4lb 4 already and he's measuring on the 95th percentile (no idea what that means)

The hospital sent me away telling me a midwife will be in touch over a research trial for big babies, I'll have another growth scan in a few weeks and a meeting with a Consultant at 36 weeks.. I don't know what I'm meeting with the consultant for?

Has anyone ever been in this situation? I'm absolutely terrified

That was the same as me and my baby was born 9lb 12. The scans are just to monitor the rate of growth and to see if you need to be induced. I would say don't panic and enjoy the extra scans.

Also, the weight on this can has a 10% leeway.

Welcome to the world of big babies Smile

I’m in almost the same situation! 31 weeks, recent gestational diabetes test negative, went to hospital last week as thought I’d lost my mucus plug and while I was there they measured me and said my bump is on 95th percentile. Have been referred for a growth scan on Thursday.
At the moment I’m not too worried as have heard from many people that the bump measuring is very inaccurate, but also that the scans can be very inaccurate too. I may feel more anxious after my scan though!
Try not to worry too much. The consultant meeting would be to review your next scan, and I guess to consider whether to induce early or have a c-section? Remember they can’t force you to do anything you don’t want to, just advise you. Ask about the risks and benefits of each option, and about accuracy of the scans.

My bump was measuring large. They said to prepare for a large baby.
Scan picked up my DD was actually small and I was induced the next day. She was only 5lbs 8- but healthy. She was surrounded by lots of fluid and when they broke my waters it was like a river

Thanks for the replies guys, I'm super worried. I feel like I can't physically go on much longer in terms of growing. I already have so much baby weight and I'm struggling big time.

I would

... sorry I push post too soon! I would have a section if required, the thought of a natural birth with a big baby petrified me
