You need to get things moving - get off the PC and start walking around, I had terrible wind, indigestion and heartburn throughout pregnancy, walking really helped (but so did Rapeeze!)

mummysurfer · 19/09/2004 21:20

try lying on your back with your right hand above your head. left hand by your side.
instictively you want to double-up with the discomfort but this makes it worse. lie like this for 10-15 mins then walk around a big belch usually follows. if not lie down again. lying like this gives me instant relief from the pain

wellsie · 19/09/2004 21:21

LOL, DelGirl is getting lots of conflicting advice hear - sorry Delgirl, you're wind is probably getting worse now.

pollyanna · 19/09/2004 21:21

I had a similar pains when I was at about the same stage of my pregnancy - I thought I was having a heart attack. I couldn't take a deep breath or stand up. The doctor (I phoned NHS direct) thought it was the muscles under the ribs stretching or something. Anyway, if you have the same pain, it goes and in my case, hasn't come back since.

mckenzie · 19/09/2004 21:23

keep moving, do squats, climb up and down the stairs. Know exactly how you feel. for me it lasted one very long weekend and then it was gone and hasn't come back since. Hope you're as lucky but you must get off the computer right now and keep active as long as possible.

DelGirl · 19/09/2004 21:37

thanks soooo much guys, it's so nice to have help on hand. my goodness that was bloody painful, never had wind like it before. still, it took my mind of the sickenss for a few minutes which has now returned . still a little pain but wanted to thank you before you all disappear.

Best cure -walk around a bit (if you can) and do as mummysurfer says, lie on your back with right arm above head and left arm by your side. within a couple of minutes there was some relief iykwim

thanks again from a very grateful delgirl x

long topic this wind stuff aint it
