Hi all!

Ok so I'm a bit in two minds with what to do here... so hoping I can get some advice from you lovely lot.

I'm 18wks today and I have just been to the cinema to watch The Lion King - as we were making our way to our seats, I got my foot caught in a lady's handbag which caused me to fall down into my knees. I had my hands full with drinks and treats etc so scuffed my elbow and my knees and landed quite heavily BUT my bump was not affected/knocked at all (from what I am aware of).

Now... here is the thing. I am Rhesus Negative and my midwife said if I have any falls or bleeds or knocks to my bump I should ring them and will need anti D. But do I need to call if my bump wasn't knocked ? I don't want to make a mountain out of a mole hill and honestly apart from a grazed elbow and a swollen knee, I am absolutely fine.

Should I ring just to be on the safe side or am I just over thinking ?

Thanks in advance :)!

Definitely ring, always best to be safe than sorry. They won't be annoyed at you ringing. When I was pregnant I used to ring up when I had reduced movements and I always felt guilty for ringing but they were always lovely! I hope you are ok!

Hopefully you have already rung someone by now, but I would have also said ring, your body has been shaken up, (regardless of actually knocking your belly), and it's always best to checked over. X

@HappyGirl86 @Shadow1234

Thank you both - I did end up ringing in the end. Midwife on the phone didn't seem too concerned as I hadn't knocked bump and didn't have any abdominal/back pain and I wasn't bleeding.

Just told to keep an eye on if I get any pains in my stomach or bleeding to ring straight back or go to A&E.

X

Thanks for the update OP, - having been rhesus neg myself (back in late 90's), I know how worrying it can be. Glad everything is ok .

Hey OP sorry to jump in your post but I'm 15 weeks and had a fall at the weekend.

I came down on my left side and don't really have a bump at the moment so don't think baby would be affected however the bruise that's come up on my side shows the force of the fall.

I don't know if I'm Rhesus negative or not but I haven't had any pain or bleeding, should I call the midwife?

@Marty93 so glad you rang them, it does put your mind at ease i think! Hope you are feeling ok.

HappyGirl86 · 06/08/2019 09:11

@MummyBear405 I always think it does no harm to ring them! It will put your mind at ease and they are the ones who know best if you need checking over. I hope you are ok x

call the midwife MummyBear405 to be on the safe side.

MummyBear405 · 07/08/2019 06:56

@bluebell34567 @HappyGirl86 thanks for replying ladies! I spoke to the midwife yesterday and she didn't seem worried as I haven't had any pain or bleeding. I have an appointment on Saturday so she's going to check me over and listen in on baby to make sure everything is okay Smile
