Big baby, first time mum

Hey, I'm a first time mum, 31 weeks

No complications, healthy BMI.. no GD (tested at 27 weeks due to family history) ivf pregnancy but no other risk factors

Went in over reduced movements (all turned out fine) and was referred for a growth scan

Turns out baby is 4lb 4 already and he's measuring on the 95th percentile (no idea what that means)

The hospital sent me away telling me a midwife will be in touch over a research trial for big babies, I'll have another growth scan in a few weeks and a meeting with a Consultant at 36 weeks.. I don't know what I'm meeting with the consultant for?

Has anyone ever been in this situation?

I was told I was having a giant baby and was scared as I am not tall. Had to have growth scans every week, told was measuring big constantly. Obviously was terrified for both me and my vagina. But baby was born at 38 weeks and 7lbs10. So not massive (would have been around 1lb more if gone to 40weeks). Measurements of how big your baby is inside you is little more than an educated guess. Don't worry!!!

@melissa1215 I had a growth scan today (29+3) and baby is 3LB 5 already 😬 with DD they told me she was 6LB 2 at 36+3 weeks! She was born at 38 weeks and 8LB 9! So I would take their measurements with a pinch of salt ☺️

Consultant will look at everything and decide a birth plan, may want to induce you at term etc xx
