Second day now I’ve had loose stools in the AM. I went to the loo 3 times yesterday morning and 3 times this morning. I just can’t pinpoint what it could be? I don’t think it’s a bug as I was fine for the rest of the day yesterday and ate some toast about an hour ago which seems to have gone down fine.
I suffer with anxiety problems and have been worrying about pre term labour. Lo and behold I start to have bowel issues which I have read can be a sign of impending labour. I just feel I cannot relax about anything.
I don’t think my anxiety is linked as I’ve had it for a while and my bowel movements haven’t been like this. I’ve read constipation is normal for this stage but not loose bowel movements. I’m honestly worried sick.

Totally normal in my experience - hormones can do all sorts of funny things to your digestive system. I know lots of people mention constipation during pregnancy but the reverse seems to be just as common. Please try not to worry (although I know how hard it is) Thanks

How many weeks are you? Tbh I'd say totally normal. Hormones cause all sorts of things.

All normal I had that through my last pregnancy some can get constipated and others can end up going to the loo frequently if your at all concerned op give your midwife a call but try not to worry easier said than done I know all the best with your pregnancy Grin

Thanks everyone 😊, I didn’t realise anyone had replied.
There’s so much online about constipation but nothing on the opposite and for someone with heightened anxiety it’s just another thing to worry about.
I’m just so worried about bubs but he’s been kicking lots today- I’m 21+ 1 today xx

I had this right through until 3rd trimester, all is perfectly fine.

I've had no constipation yet and am at 34+4

Are you taking any pregnancy supplements? You may find that certain ones don't help - but I'd always rather have loose than constipation?

Kate3150 · 05/08/2019 17:56

Yes I’m taking the pregnacare max?

This probably sounds weird but I don’t like loose stools because my body feels out of control if that makes any sense at all?

I’m usually a constipation girl (pre pregnancy)! I had very very bad endometriosis on my bowel and was told it never be perfect so maybe pregnancy is upsetting my digestive system!

It might be worth switching to a different pregnancy vitamin product and see if that helps (it'll take a few days to see a change if it is). Won't hurt anyway!

I always suffer loose bowels throughout pregnancy. I am normally slightly constipated when not pregnant

Thanks for the replies... trying to relax but it’s hard. Funnily enough i found the first trimester a breeze compared to second! X

My pregnancy vitamins gave me a very upset stomach. I stopped them all together and I'm more conscious of my diet. My tummy is much happier.

Totally normal! I'm 22+3. Was like that lots in the beginning then again around 20/21 weeks but has settled down now.

Hall1995 · 29/06/2021 20:31

I’ve been having more frequent and at times loser bowl movements. Is this normal for 27+ weeks? X
