Anyone with experience of getting pregnant with moderate RA?

I’m clutching at straws here really because Im 38 and single, and also have PCOS so it’s highly unlikely I will be a biological Mum but it’s all I ever wanted to be, so it’s heartbreaking to accept.
Anyway, I have moderate rheumatoid arthritis. Diagnosed 6 years ago and I’m currently not working because of it ( although hopefully will work part-time again). I am on methotrexate and leflunomide and would have to be off these for 6 months before I could even try to conceive. Has anyone in a similar circumstance done this and if so, how did you cope being pregnant and off medication? Did the physical stress of birth affect your joints and did you manage to keep off DMARDs for a bit to breastfeed?
Lots of questions, sorry.

Not personally but my SIL has RA and has a toddler and is currently pregnant. I don't know the ins and outs of her meds, but I know she was on methotrexate and had to stop before TTC. This was the hardest time for her as thankfully she got pregnant very quickly and her RA symptoms essentially disappeared for the the whole of her pregnancy. I don't know exactly when she restarted her meds but she breastfed for over a year and I believe she remained symptom free for roughly 6 months after birth and then her symptoms started creeping back again.

@Bambamber thanks for replying- that’s really interesting to read. I’d heard a few times that once your pregnant, symptoms can ease. You are definitely not allowed to breastfeed on methotrexate, so that’s quite encouraging that she managed a year or so without.
There is a little bit of hope Smile have a good evening!
