Hi all, evening primrose oil capsules have been recommended to me from 34 weeks onward. To clarify they weren’t recommended to bring on early labour, but to soften the cervix and help it efface. Just wondering if anyone has any experience with with this? I would plan to take orally not insert although I know you can do this too. I got 1000mg capsules was planning to start taking 2 a day from 34 weeks and increase to 3 a day at 37. Interested to know if anyone else has tried and what you thought? Thanks in advance

I took them in both my last pregnancies from 37 weeks. DS1 was born at 38 weeks and DS2 at 39, both fast labours (DS1 was a bit too fast for my liking...) and managed with gas and air. I'll never know if evening primrose did anything at all, but I'll be taking it this time. 34 weeks seems early to me though.
