Am I totally crazy? It is hormones? Is this normal?

I find myself doing crazy things because I’m scared of jinxing my baby being ok.
Like the other night I couldn’t put out new coasters in the living room because they are not the coasters that were there when the baby was ok on the last scan or what if they are bad luck.

I can’t change my hair bobble again cause what if it’s bad luck or something

Silly things like this I’m doing all day long.
I spoke to a midwife and Gp about my anxiety and they are hopeful it will pass when I feel baby moving (I’m 18 weeks atm)

Anyone else had this or feeling crazy?

That sounds like obsessive compulsive disorder? It could be triggered by hormones. I’d go back to your GP, tell them about the compulsions and see what they advise. X

Sounds like OCD similar symptoms - bear in mind that sometimes anxiety can mirror OCD symptoms too. The fact that you’re avoiding things in case something happens, rather than repeating actions in case something happens makes me think anxiety rather than OCD but it is well worth speaking to your GP or midwife about it!

I've had similar-ish behaviours although more anxiety driven than OCD I think. Slightly verging on irrational in hindsight but at the time they feel a very real and imminent threat. Have got some support from the mental health team and they have been really helpful and understanding.

Definitely keep talking to your midwife and see if she can refer to you to perinatal mental health for some support.

(Btw - I am also hoping that once baby is moving regularly I'll feel better. Am 18 weeks currently.)

I'm not sure it will pass as I experienced it since I was about 8. I literally battle with this shit daily and it is exhausting I have really bag OCD. My pregnancy made it worse because like you if I didn't do something in my head I'd convince myself something would happen to the baby then it would all be my fault because I didn't do a certain thing. In reality I know it's nothing to do with what have I done/haven't done but it's hard to move past it x

This definitely sounds like OCD. Sometimes it is triggered during pregnancy/after giving birth. You should seek help from a clinical psychologist. Some psychologists are not well educated in OCD so ensure you go to one who has experience in this area.

Thanks all I’ve got in touch with my midwife for some further support though them. Got an appointment in September. I’m trying to get to the mini milestones to help me deal with the anxiety better. 20 week scan in 5 days 😌
