Needing some advice for work

Hi everyone,
I just found out I'm pregnant. Calculated it and it's saying I'm 5wks +5. It's my first so I have mixed emotions, it wasn't planned and to be quite frank I am terrified. I have always wanted a baby but I didn't think this is how I'd feel! Does anyone else feel this way?
I have already got symptoms (tired, hungry all the time and sore breasts).
I am a self employed makeup artist and nail technician, and I am so scared about getting morning sickness and having to hide it from my clients! Does anyone have any advice of how I can cope with it? I know it might not, and hasn't happened but I am a worrier and like to be prepared.
Thanks in advance x

I should also mention there isn't a toilet in the actual salon and it's out the back of the building so it's quite obvious when I need to leave!

Oh I feel for you. Can space out bookings and make sure you’re getting regular breaks?
Keep a pack of ginger biscuits nearby to help settle nausea.
And yes it’s normal to feel that way! Congratulations Flowers

That was supposed to say can you missed out a word!

Bailey93 · 04/08/2019 13:49

Yes I could block out some time! Thank you Smile

I was exactly the same as you. Wasn't planned, very unexpected and a teacher so leaving the pupils for morning sickness would be very apparent. I ended up not being able to work for 7 weeks due to morning sickness and ended up on anti-emetic tablets to help me feel more normal and go back to work again.

StarlyBeee · 04/08/2019 18:22

I am nine weeks first pregnancy and non of the old tricks I was advised works for me! I have tried to hide it from work but anything other than water and bread I am violently sick. It's been worse than I imagined but I can only advise monitor what you eat and drink and you will know what works for you and what doesn't. I literally can't stand the thought of anymore muffins or toast but it's the only thing that minimises my sickness. Be kind to you and take it slow and congratulations :)

Congratulations.
I’m a self employed beauty therapist. It’s anightmare if you do suffer. I was very lucky until the end of my pregnancy when I had to finish 2 weeks earlier than expected. (36weeks instead of 38) Some of my clients were awful about it. Did you know having your nails done is life and death? Grin But my babies health took priority and I was back at work within 16 weeks.

I’d just suggest that you don’t pack yourself crazy busy, take regular short breaks and hope for the best.
Such a pain as well because time off obviously isn’t paid for.

Bailey93 · 04/08/2019 19:32

@cookieoclock I am dreading telling my clients because I know some of them will not be happy for me and probably just ask me when I'll be coming back to work!! Lol. I am hoping I'll be ok, I have had some bleeding today but still got all my normal pregnancy symptoms and I took a pregnancy test and it was still very apparent that it's positive so I'm not sure whether I need to worry!

@StarlyBeee oh no! I really hope it gets better for you. How far along are you?

Check the chemicals you are using for the nails - they are pretty strong, are they safe to use? I've heard people saying they won't get acrylics when pregnant

Bailey93 · 04/08/2019 19:44

@stucknoue yes they are perfectly safe Smile. I don't really use acrylic much anyway and it's not the cheap stuff the walk in shops use. I have a few pregnant clients and my colleague has had two healthy babies doing my job. I did worry at first though!

Thankyou @Bailey93 I'm 9 + 2 so fairly early have already had two scans because we struggled to conceive so it's from an IVF cycle it's pretty incredible 😍😍😍

Bailey93 · 07/08/2019 20:19

@StarlyBeee wow that's amazing 😍. Congratulations. How are you getting on?

Hey @Bailey93 thanks we were so excited at first but lately I have been feeling pretty flat with the sickness and also I am now terrified! I think when your told you can have children naturally you become so obsessed with seeing that positive you don't think about anything else like what comes after so I am having abit of anxiety and abit of a hard pregnancy to be fair!! We are ok though and are currently moving into our first house! It finalised the day we found out we were pregnant haha how mad is that! Hubby worked so hard on the renovations bless him! I have my midwife appointment tomorrow 😆😆 how are you? So do you have a little one or are you pregnant xxx

Inthesky42 · 08/08/2019 08:53

You might be lucky and have no sickness! I was one of those lucky ones. Just felt really tired.

Bailey93 · 08/08/2019 11:28

@StarlyBeee wow, so happy for you. We have just moved too. Lots to do but it's exciting! Good luck with your midwife appointment Smile. I also have an appt tomorrow but for an early scan as I have been bleeding since Sunday and mild cramps. I think I might be having a miscarriage but I will wait and see tomorrow. It's torture waiting I don't know how people do it! It is my first pregnancy so I really am terrified. X
