Pregnant again after 21 week loss. HELP.

I’m not really sure what I’m hoping to get from this but just after a little advice.

I lost my first baby at 21 weeks after PROM causing me to get sepsis which meant they had to induce labour. After a million tests, the only thing they could think of that might have caused my waters to go was a shortening of my cervix and promised that if I were to fall pregnant again that I would get fortnightly scans of my cervix to keep an eye on it.

Fast forward to now, after months of TTC we finally fell pregnant again and today I turn 12 weeks. At my booking appointment, they requested a referral for the cervical scans (stating specifically that they should start at 12 weeks). I’ve had nothing. I’ve phoned about a million people who keep robbing me off to other people saying they can’t see if the referral has been made or who is making the referral.

I really don’t know what to do now as these scans were the only reassuring thing that allowed me to let myself try again and now it looks like they might not happen. Has anyone got any ideas?

Your midwife should be able to refer you to consultant for scans and then you go from there... I assume. Congratulations on your pregnancy x

To be honest I'd feel like going and sitting in the maternity unit until I knew they had put me in the system. It is unacceptable to pass someone in your situation from pillar to post like that. Is your GP any good, surely he/she could make the phones calls while you were with them and get it sorted?

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss Thanks.
Talk to your midwife and ask her to fast track the referral. Keep on phoning and asking to make sure your concerns are heard. Make sure that they give you all your scans don't let them fob you off x

I also lost my second baby at 21 weeks, waters went etc but I had other issues that I won't go into.

Your midwife can sort all this out.
And I wish you the most successful healthy glowing pregnancy, I know you are probably worrying a lot but everything will be fine.

Xxx

Could you contact your PALS (patient advice and liasion team) at your local hospital? Hope you get it sorted soon

Pigletthedog · 03/08/2019 20:53

Depending where you are OP, your local sands group should have a specific next pregnancy support group. Part of that will be a midwife from your local hospital who will be able to advocate for you and help you navigate the system

Seconding the poster who said to contact your local PALS service - hopefully they can help get things moving.
