Gel polish in prgnancy

Hi Ladies,

Is it safe to get get nail polish during pregnancy? I'm not sure about the uv light. Anyone have any experience with this?

Yes, absolutely. I did my research because I qualified in Gel manicures and acrylic extensions just before I found out i was pregnant. I do my own hands (OH does my toes because I can't reach).

It's absolutely fine.
I'm a nail tech and the UV light for the short amount of time your hands are under it will not hurt you or baby. Usually for gel polish the nail tech will use an LED light anyway which is less harmful.
The only chemical you need to be more cautious of is acrylic as breathing in large amounts of dust from the filing of it, can have a negative effect on an unborn child. But were talking about being exposed to it all day 5 days a week x

Im 27 weeks and been having a gel polish every 2 weeks since well before I was pregnant, had no issues/changes since pregnancy, nail tech hasn't said anything and neither has midwife. Hands are under the light for such a minimal time, can't see it being a problem
