Hi everyone

I am new here and don't have any children of my own but am super close to my lovely sister who is expecting a baby at the end of September. She is getting really anxious and despite CBT and seeing the doctor regularly is just not sleeping at all. Her head is going round and we have gone through relaxation techniques, but when her head hits the pillow she just can't drift off. I am really worried about her, it's been going on for about 5 weeks and she is in a real state. Her husband has also been really supportive.

Doctor says you can't take any remedies - does anyone know of anything herbal she can take, or other things to try - acupuncture, diet things etc? We will try anything! This is the first baby in our family so I am sure once it's here things will change a bit - sleep deprivation for other reasons!

Please help, we are desperate!!

Thanks

Sarah

I should add she has been referred to perimental health etc but this is just making her more anxious. Thanks

Is she getting enough exercise?

I was heavily pregnant at the same time as your sister through an awful hot summer. I bought a beanbag to mould into in bed and downloaded a hypnotherapy app which always knocked me out- I would wake in the morning with my earphones still in!

I'd defiantly recommend some sleep music or spoken relaxation to stop the mind racing.

App- positivity with Andrew Johnson is ok. Use the long version. It's an app on apple but might be on android too?

Gentle sleep music for babies is good. You can buy on iTunes etc.

What is the anxiety focused on?

Is it general about everything or specific to an element of pregnancy, childbirth or parenting?

I couldn't sleep at all in the last 10 weeks of pregnancy.

I mainly stayed up and danced my energy out to cheesy music but I also used sleep hypnosis apps.

Mine went literally as soon as I gave birth (in hindsight I wonder if it was related to my gestational diabetes)
