Third trimester and ugly swollen lady area

Sorry if this is tmi but this is my first pregnancy so I dont know if its normal 😅 I'm in my third trimester and my neither region is looking very very puffy and enlarged and quite red. Its hideous to be perfectly honest. Is this normal and will it go back to normal (as close as normal can get)? Thanks

This happened to me in both my pregnancies and yes it went back to normal very quickly after birth.

Sunandrainallconfusedhere · 02/08/2019 09:06

Varicose veins of the vulva? The unspoken hidden joys of pregnancy.....

Sexnotgender · 02/08/2019 09:07

Yeah, best not to look down there right now! It’ll return to normal don’t worry.

marinova · 02/08/2019 09:10

Thanks guys I hard a bit of a panic, I will avoid looking at at it from now on lol

How can you even see it 🤣

Hellosunshine30 · 02/08/2019 15:13

Haha mine went the same although it went purple and it was hideous. I'm 9 days since giving birth and apart from the stitches, that area is now back to normal in terms of colour lol

coffeeaddiction · 02/08/2019 15:18

Perfectly normal but I'm more impressed that you can see it !

SillySallyStruthers · 02/08/2019 16:24

@yikesanddang I thought the same thing 😂

GummyGoddess · 02/08/2019 16:27

Also wondering how you can even see at this stage! Baby, placenta, fluid, etc is heavy and putting extra pressure on your veins so everything will be puffier than normal. Plus you have increased blood volume as well which doesn't help.

FairyDust92 · 02/08/2019 16:28

I couldn't even see it! Out of sight out of mind I'd say 😂

Branleuse · 02/08/2019 16:40

Yeah, your fanny gets bigger in readiness for birth. Its completely normal. It shrinks back though. Not immediately but it generally goes back to its non pregnancy size and shape as the rest of your body does. DW about it

Frizzy1986 · 02/08/2019 17:19

It's joyful isn't it. I've had swelling down there since around 22 weeks. I took a look with a mirror as I was intrigued to how bad it was getting.
I got it last time but much later. Its the ache that gets me as I can tell its swollen. All the midwives say its totally fine and not to worry.

TonyThePony · 02/08/2019 18:54

I dread to think what mine looks like. Luckily I cannot see it no matter what way I try to bend and stretch!
Out of sight, out of mind Grin

EllyNC291 · 02/08/2019 19:19

Yup- hideous!! I’m very glad I can no longer see mine as when I could it made me shudder haha!!! Glad to hear from others that it does go down!

Spudlet · 02/08/2019 19:21

Yup, normal. It’s under pressure at the moment after all. I didn’t look personally, but I remember that feeling of pressure!

It goes away afterwards, fear not. Pregnancy... such a magical special time Confused

mistermagpie · 02/08/2019 20:08

If it makes you feel better I have a varicose vein down there as well as a big fat fanny. I'm only 22 weeks but it's my third baby and everything seems to be happening earlier. Pregnancy is so beautiful isn't it?

LemonScentedStickyBat · 02/08/2019 20:13

It will go back to normal, promise!

Tobebythesea · 02/08/2019 21:49

Fear not! It’s totally normal. This is my second pregnancy and it enlarged a lot earlier this time Shock. The look of horror in DH’s eyes the first time he noticed was priceless, as was mine!

Tobebythesea · 02/08/2019 21:53

To add, I’m supposed to be doing perineum massage but we tried and it’s too swollen!
