Low platelets experience?

Hi, I'm currently 38 weeks and just been advised I have low platelets so might affect the birth. I was at 114 two weeks ago and down to 100 this week. Midwife has just told me not to worry, but at 100 or less I'll not be able to have an epidural and she's booked a consultant appointment for me next week which is the earliest they had available... If I go into labour before then to just speak to the anaesthetist on at the time about it.

This is my first baby, pregnancy has been really straightforward til now. I have read all the nhs/medical journal info re platelets but it hasn't really helped other than explain what it is Hmm... Anyone with any experience of this know how it'll impact labour?

Hi I had this at the end of my pregnancy my platelets were down to 72. It meant I couldn't have an epidural and in an emergency they would have to use a general anaesthetic instead of a spinal block. In terms of actual labour, I was told if I had a large bleed then I would likely need a platelet transfusion. I didn't need either and ended up having a normal vaginal delivery. Hope this helps.
