Sleep during pregnancy

Hi all,

First pregnancy and struggling to sleep. I've always slept on my front but now I'm 21 weeks it seems pretty impossible! I've tried sleeping in my side but it's uncomfortable, hurts my shoulder and it takes me ages to actually get to sleep.

I currently have a V shaped pillow which has helped a little but ultimately I still just want to sleep on my front. Does anyone have any solutions/suggestions - Is it even physically possible?

Thanks in advance,

A tired and uncomfortable Mummy to be.

If you wanted to splash out, the bb hug me pregnancy pillow can be tied into a donut so you can lie on your front. Personally I didn’t found it that comfortable to do so for more than a short period, but I dont sleep on my stomach.

Try putting something squishy like a folded blanket under the sheet so your hip can rest on it. Pillow between legs so top leg bone is horizontal. Ideally prop the full leg not just the knee. A pillow behind your back is also good.

I had a dream genie pillow. The but behind you back means you can tilt around a bit so get in different positions.

A decent mattress helps too. Plus maybe bedtime routine, lavender oil. Try hypnobirthing relaxation tracks on headphones if wide awake.

Ultimately it might be insomnia rather than just discomfort. It's common but annoying. On the bright side I think it's good prep for being up all hours with a baby Smile
