3rd baby, first induction! Any experience?

Just wondered if anyone else has a similar experience.

I'm currently 10 days overdue with baby #3!

My first 2 babies came naturally , 39+5 and 40+4, both easy, quick labours (especially the second). I wrongly assumed I'd be lucky again this time around, but it's looking like I'm going to have to be induced this time! Unless he comes in a hurry over the next 2 days, I'm booked in for Saturday.

Just wondering, being so far overdue and having had 2 quick deliveries before , am I likely to be lucky with induction ? I'm worried after all the stories I've heard about it taking days and ending in c sections etc. I really would like to have as natural a birth as possible with no pain relief, but I've a feeling it'll be really difficult to do that if it takes so long !

No advice, but watching! Am baby number 3 too, and am due an induction at 39-40 weeks (no date yet!) due to complications :) xx

My 2nd was induced and was easier than my first - largely because I didn't spend all of my active labour in the car being sent away and coming back...

I was induced with my 1st, 3rd and will be induced on Sunday with my 4th.

My first was your typical body not ready, even at 42wks and back to back baby.

My 3rd, well I wasn't expecting to be induced at 42wks as my 2nd had turned up albeit 9 days over. Anyway I was pretty nervous, however my 3rd was my quickest and easiest of all.

They broke my waters to induce labour, got me to walk around and my contractions started soon after. 2hrs later she was born weighing 4.36kg. Simply comfy and couldn't be bothered I think.

I'm being induced on Sunday at 40wks as baby is measuring well off the scale and predicted to be 5kg if left to his own devices. I had a sweep yesterday and they will be able to start me off in the same way as my 3rd so I'm hopeful it will be positive too.

Watching with great interest 😊

I was induced with my baby at 11am in a Monday, labour started at 4.50am Tuesday and he was delivered via emergency forceps at 11.16 (his heart rate dropped) if I didn't have forceps, he would've been there not much later as was in pushing stage 😊 I had just the pessary (3 mins as kept falling out 🙄)

Also following as due dc4 and first induction booked for Saturday! I too have quick labours with only gas & air so I’m booked for Rupture of membranes only this time and having had a sweep on Tuesday (and another today) my MW thinks that might be enough for me 🤞🏻
Really don’t want one of these long & painful inductions I keep reading about!

I was induced. If you want pain relief I'd save it for the delivery as I was so spaced out it spoilt the experience.I was induced on the friday and had ds on the sunday. Not sure if this was normal but didn't expect my baby to take two days to arrive lol

I had my first at 40+10 , 8 hour labour, my second at 40+1, 4 hour labour and was induced with my 3rd at 40+3. My waters were broken & then I was put on a drip to get contractions going. It was intense but quick at 3 & 1/2 hours from start of contractions & copied with breathing techniques & gas and air.

Thanks all , some positive by the sounds of it ! Just hoping if it does come to it, it doesn't take too long ! My cousin was induced on Tuesday and only delivered this morning , but she was a few weeks early so baby probably not ready !

There is no pattern to inductions regardless of number of weeks.

I was induced a week early and my DD was born within 10 hours. We planned to be in hospital in labour for up to 5 days.

rubyroot · 01/08/2019 11:37

I won't tell you my story. But even if it's a difficult induction and a c section, you won't care in the end. Once you have your baby in your arms. Good luck

ReginaPhalange89 · 01/08/2019 12:39

It's 100% the last baby , I just wanted it to be a good birth to round it off ! Sounds weird but I really loved it the first 2 times, be a shame if this one ends up being a bad one !

But its not a bad one if you end up with a healthy baby at the end!

Bebelicious · 01/08/2019 13:19

I was induced at 42 weeks but it was my first, so it took quite long (27 hours). I suppose just prepare yourself that it could be long, but hopefully being your 3rd it should happen much quicker. I pushed for 5 hours, and had ventouse, so avoided forceps and c- section.
