Here's just a quick survey.
Some people say morning sickness is worse if you're expeting a girl.
Is this true I wonder?
How about we all say what baby we had and if we had morning sickness or not and then in a few days I'll work the percentages out and post them on here- or shall I say in a week or so.
If we all list like this to make it easy for me to do the calsulations:

Dd- Bad morning sickness

I think so. DS sick to 14 wks, DD vomited all the way to labour!

JanH · 20/09/2004 22:04

pixiefish, am dying to see your analysis of all this. I think a spreadsheet might be necessary!

pixiefish · 20/09/2004 22:43

Janh- have done one- how anal is that BUT I do the calculations with a calculator- just the list and the addings up with excel. Don't spose you know how I can make the spreadsheet available to all do you? Or maybe I'll CAT it to everyone who wants it-

DD - morning sickness was there for about 12 weeks, but manageable. I never actually vomited.

lilsmum · 21/09/2004 05:28

with dd i had m/s from 6 wks till around 16wks.... nausea and actually sick prob couple times a day, if anyone smoked within a mile radius made me puke!! and the smell of cat food also made me puke, thought it would never end but did and boy was it a relief when it did lol, only got the one child so cant compare to boy's hth also sis-in-law got one of each she was sick as a dog with dd, didnt suffer at all with ds... xx

bundle · 21/09/2004 11:09

dd1 bad nausea for 1st trimester, actually sick 3 times. VERY sick during labour.. and got dehydrated, had to have a drip.
dd2 much milder nausea, not actually sick.

fortnight · 21/09/2004 11:52

ds constant nausea till 14 weeks, but able to eat. dd constant nausea till 17 weeks, and unable to eat properly, making it all worse. This time ,nausea was not so bad,I was able to eat lots(Very fussy though)but I am still feeling queasy at times, and I'm 29 weeks now.I don't know the sex this time.

hana · 21/09/2004 12:15

I don't think so! Had a morning sickness free pregnancy with dd, am preg now and had the worst sickness for the first 14 weeks or so.
I think this one is a girl as well

pixiefish · 21/09/2004 13:07

So far 75% of morning sickness sufferers had girls and 54% had boys. Not scientific I know and some of you (muminamillion, cod and lou33)are a bit vague as to how many kids you have so have had to guess at 2. It is however a fairly accurate analysis and the spreadsheet is available to anyone who wants to check the entries- if you CAT me I'll email it to you.

aku · 21/09/2004 15:15

DD no morning sickness, expecting twins (sex not known) no morning sickness

BadHair · 21/09/2004 15:19

Sorry if this has been said already, but one of the scientific Deans at my university insists that a female foetus produces more hormones than a male foetus, and that its these surging hormones that make you sick.
I have absolutely no idea where he got this idea from and as I was horribly sick with ds1 and only mildly sick with ds2 I suspect he was talking bullsh*t.

Janos · 21/09/2004 21:25

I don't think it's true at all.

My mum had no morning sickness with me or my sister. My MiL had none with my DP & brother (he's a twin) or their younger sister. I was constantly nauseuous up until about 15 weeks. Felt like puking all the time, but was never actually sick.

Lots of sympathy to those suffering with hyperemesis though..my step sister, who is about 1 month behind me had it very badly.

dubaimum · 22/09/2004 11:59

DS no morning sickness, really, really bad heartburn though

my mum had 4 dd's and was voilently sick with number 4 for the whole pregnancy but no ms with the others (and no I wasn't number 4!!)

alibo · 22/09/2004 12:50

ds-no sickness, just queasy in the afternoons.
BTW, have heard several people insist that if sicknees returns late on in pregnancy, then it's almost certainly a girl, due to another surge in those female hormones. Applied to my sister and quite a few others.

alibo · 22/09/2004 12:50

sorry should be sickness!!

jnbsmum · 22/09/2004 13:33

Ds very bad ms. hospitalised twice
Dd mild ms. felt really healthy with her.

I also had awful heartburn with ds but nothing with dd

bundle · 23/09/2004 10:52

friend who had hyperemesis (admitted both times) had a girl, then a boy. felt fine 10 mins after c/s both times.

mousie · 23/09/2004 22:03

terrible morning sickness with daughter, not so bad with my son
