Here's just a quick survey.
Some people say morning sickness is worse if you're expeting a girl.
Is this true I wonder?
How about we all say what baby we had and if we had morning sickness or not and then in a few days I'll work the percentages out and post them on here- or shall I say in a week or so.
If we all list like this to make it easy for me to do the calsulations:

Dd- Bad morning sickness

Ds1 - bad nausea/vomiting for 5mths

Ds2 - no nausea, vomited once

Dd1 - moderate nausea for 12wks

Dd2 - severe nausea/vomiting for 4mths

sweetkitty · 19/09/2004 21:25

dd - no sickness

Dingle · 19/09/2004 21:36

DS, felt sick from very early, physically being sick (up to 15 times a day at the worst)from 4wks until 13 wks. Lost a stone, hospitalised and on drip for a week.

DD, very similar, feeling constantly sick very early, only sick up to 8 times a day, but did last until 16 weeks. Still lost a stone, but managed without hospitalisation.

I think I coped with 2nd pregnancy better.Forced myself to drink despite immediately throwing it up- just didn't want to go in hospital & leave ds!

acnebride · 19/09/2004 21:38

ds - travel sickness only in 2nd trimester

blossomhill · 19/09/2004 21:39

dreadful ms with ds actually being sick all day

with dd felt mildly sick occasionally but was never actually sick

logic · 19/09/2004 21:41

ds - 24 hr a day nausea for the first trimester but no actual vomiting. TMI?

Tiggiwinkle · 19/09/2004 21:45

DS1-moderate nausea in mornings for first 12 weeks.
DS2, 3 and 4- no nausea.
DS5-severe nausea for first 20 weeks.

JanH · 19/09/2004 21:47

Results so far- So far 70% of women who had girls had morning sickness whilst only 50% of women who had boys suffered. Will carry on adding people to the spreadsheet (yes I am terribly anal) as and when they post until the thread appears to die... You'd think I had nothing better to do really wouldn't you?

I only have one child, a DD. And from about 5 weeks to 16 weeks I had horrid morning sickness, - well all day infact. I was physically sick daily and little helped it. I lost lots of wait, and ended up feeling so dizzy one week I ended up having to have time off work, as the HV didn't think I was fit to drive! Yuk!

Please remind me, why do I want to go through this again? LOL!

Slinky · 19/09/2004 22:09

DD1 - nausea in mornings and evenings (no sickness) up until about 20 weeks.

DS1 - nausea most of the day - actually sick quite often - up until 16 weeks but came back around 34 weeks.

DD2 - absolutely hideous! Nausea hit me way before a positive test, actually sick between 5/6 times a day, lasting up until 20 weeks when the sickness stopped, but still felt nauseous. Vomiting returned around 34 weeks - SERIOUSLY not good for your pelvic floor when you're retching with a 34week old baby bouncing on it

eidsvold · 20/09/2004 00:02

dd - not bad morning sickness

this one - no idea of gender yet but morning sickness worse!!

tammybear · 20/09/2004 00:03

ds - very bad sickness each afternoon for a couple of months.
dd - not so bad, but came back later on im the pg.

cazzybabs · 20/09/2004 09:17

dd - felt quite sick every morning, only actually sick at weekends

this time not sick at all, apart from a tiny little feeling once or twice...thus I reackon its a boy...but I know for sure in a few weeks!

Distracted · 20/09/2004 12:44

with dd had permanent mild nausea in first trimester, was never sick.

with second pregnancy (been told it's a boy and scan was pretty clear) again not actually sick, but much worse nausea than first time.

NomDePlume · 20/09/2004 12:53

Never been pregnant with a DS, so can't compare the 2 genders. But have been preg with 2 female pregs (one didn't make it past 26 weeks).

First DD preg (the one I lost) - A week or two of vomiting but then nothing.

DD (now 2) - Nausea for around 12 weeks, only vomited twice.

Neither of the above were anything more than I would describe as mild. HTH

Rowlers · 20/09/2004 12:58

This is bringing back horrible memories.
I've only got one DD and had all day nausea and vomiting until about week 20. I couldn't even walk past the kitchen. Eugh.

pepsi · 20/09/2004 13:22

Have one of each and can definately say sickness was worse with dd, even had sickness at the end of the pregnancy with dd.

alicatsg · 20/09/2004 13:56

ds - 34 weeks of nausea (out of 37). best contraceptive I can imagine so haven't found out about dds...

susanmt · 20/09/2004 16:50

Dd1 - ghastly morning, noon and night sickness, until 17 weeks

Ds - threw up twice at about 8 weeks but did feel queasy for a weeek or so either side

dd2 - I was sick a lot but I'm not sure if it was because I had kidney stones or morning sickness. Certainly far worse than with ds.

I'm convinced its worse if you're having a girl!

cab · 20/09/2004 17:03

One dd no morning sickness

BooMama · 20/09/2004 17:28

Ds - queasy for 13 weeks but no vomiting
Dd - not a thing!
