8 weeks pregnant...When will I enjoy food again?

I've hit the 8 week mark and gradually I'm feeling more and more nauseous, I've not been sick yet but whenever I eat and whenever I think of food... I just feel it. Everything minus fruit and crisps. Which is annoying because I want to eat healthy and eat plenty for the baby and I but it's so hard! When will this stop?

Everyone is different. Many women find it gets better as they're coming out the first trimester, personally I'm 24 weeks and still waiting to be able to eat normally

Fruit and crisps were all I wanted in 1st trimester too! My nausea is still going at 35 weeks but I am still able to enjoy food, it might take a while for you to start feeling a bit more normal but it hopefully should start to ease off soon. 18 weeks was when I started to enjoy things more again.

It was about six months after DD was born for me, pregnancy was the best diet I ever went on 😂

Typically though, by the end of the first trimester you should be feeling better.

The nausea is caused, I think, by the surge in hormones. Don't quote me on it though 😂

I hope you feel better soon op! Also, congratulations on your pregnancy

Hello I'm 9 weeks tomorrow and the start of 8 weeks was not too bad but the last few days it's kicked in again like it did at 6 weeks for me! Feeling terrible at work and night time is my worst time ! I just want to sleep but I keep waking up feeling sick !!! X

barnyb · 30/07/2019 21:48

Also everything is soooo disgusting I can't eat anything at home. Anything from my own fridge is vile. I can't cook anything because it's disgusting! And I can't open my cupboards because they all stink of herbs and spices 🤮🤢🤭😮😵 poor husband had to put all spices in tubs and bags but I ended up throwing the worst ones away !!

You will. But everyone is different. Last time, I started eating a little more normally from 16 weeks & by 20 weeks, I could eat most things bar a couple aversions that stayed with me the whole way through. I could not stand chicken. The evening after I gave birth, I was given a left over meal on the ward from someone who’d gone home. Chicken pie. It was the best thing I’d eaten in weeks Grin

I'm definitely with you on this I've hit the 8 week mark too and the last couple of weeks I've felt so nauseous constantly and no food is appetising to me 😫hopefully once we make it out of the first trimester we will start to feel better!

LiveFatsDieYoGnu · 31/07/2019 08:38

I’m nearly 12 weeks and still totally averse to most/all food Sad BUT I am now having more good days than bad with the nausea and vomiting so very much hoping that the food aversion will start to lift soon. It’s very much a case of eating what is least nasty at the moment rather than actually desiring or enjoying anything! But I didn’t puke at all yesterday or Sunday so I’m taking those as wins Grin

Flowers to everyone. Non-scented ones, obviously Wink

With DC1 it was about 12 weeks. Currently pregnant with DC2 and it lasted till about 15 weeks. Although I'm still having some food aversions (20 weeks now) they are not as bad as in first trimester. For me it peaks at about 9/10 weeks. So your probably in the worst of it at the minute. Don't worry too much about your diet. Just drink plenty of water if you can and take your pregnancy vitamins. Hopefully after the first trimester your diet will improve again Smile

12/13 weeks for me with both pregnancies. All I could eat prior to that was jam doughnuts and sweet and salty popcorn, plus wasabi peas with my first. Confused
It does ease off and eventually you'll be able to eat again. Flowers

I would say, if crisps and fruit is all you can eat right now, just go with it and don't beat yourself up.

The chances are you are going to be feeling much better around the second trimester mark, and you can worry about getting in more vitamins and minerals then. But for now, getting anything down that stays down should be the goal!

Anecdotally, I had nausea from about week 6 - week 12 and went right off food. I could only eat plain, beige food like potatoes. Now I'm in the second trimester, so far, I've been able to eat a much more varied diet.
