I'm almost 5 weeks pregnant and already started vomiting. GP has prescribed prochlorperazine, as from my previous pregnancy I remember that the antihistamines made me sleep all day and I am a stay at home parent. I've realised I have a lot of questions, if anyone has any advice please.

Does anyone know of a really informed support community? There seem to be a lot out there but I'm looking for one where people have in depth knowledge on things like NICE guidelines and the risks/benefits of different drugs, rather than memes and chat.

If anyone here can help with the following questions, that would be amazing:

Do you think it is too late for the prophylactic effect if I have already been vomiting? I am kicking myself for not remembering to get a prescription a week ago.

Does anyone know if 5mg 3 times a day is the right dose for prochlorperazine? The leaflet said something about a larger does for treating rather than preventing sickness but the GP didn't mention it. But then he didn't know about starting meds as early as possible either.

I'm also breastfeeding and wondering if prochlorperazine is safe for that when used long term.

I can't remember from last time. When would it be best to take these to ensure food stays down ?

Anything else I should be doing early to head the HG off?

Hi @satsoomar, we're just bumping this thread for you so hopefully some Mumsnetters will be along soon with some advice. Flowers

Hey OP, sorry I can't answer your questions. I just wanted to let you know that I feel your pain. I'm currently hooked up to an IV due to HG. I hope things improve for you Smile
