Low amniotic fluid, large head, told my baby will die

Had our second appointment with the fetal medicine unit today after baby being all curled up at last week's scan. We have been told today that our options are to terminate or wait for our baby to die because of little amniotic fluid and a slightly large head and has stayed all curled up, which points at a problem 😔 I am not prepared to kill my baby...so I am just wondering if anyone has had this and had a healthy baby? I am 14 weeks tomorrow if that's any help...thank you, I am obviously trying to prepare for the likelihood of baby dying but just not ready to give up on him (I say him, bit we don't actually know yet)

I'm so sorry for your bad news OP. If the doctor has told you this, I'm afraid you will have to accept that it is going to happen. Doctor wouldn't have been so definite if there was any chance of a good outcome. Sending hugs to you.

So sorry this has happened. Thanks

Did they offer you counseling or someone to talk to about it?

AllyBamma · 30/07/2019 14:26

Also no experience but I just wanted to say how terribly sorry I am that this has happened Flowers

So sorry for your situation. I'd heed your doctor's instructions. If no additional harm would come to you if you try to continue on, then you should do so if you wish. If the doctor recommends otherwise for your safety and future fertility, then you should listen to him/her, in my opinion. Take care, sending hopeful thoughts your way.

I am so so sorry you have been told this. At very least you deserve a second opinion. You also deserve to find out if there is any ante-natal facility that is doing ground breaking research into low amnio fluid and keeping the baby alive. Because if there is you are legally allowed to ask to be transferred to them.

Like you, I'd be really resistant to the idea of a termination at this stage. Get more information and a second and third opinion from specialists in the field.

So very sorry to read this. 💐

Really sorry to hear this. I would suggesting drinking more water to try and get the aminotic fluid up just in case the lower fluid is to do with the heatwave we had recently and then ask them to re-scan and get a second opinion.

So sorry to read this, don’t know what to say 💐
