Promethezine (phenergan) for morning sickness

Can I ask if anyone else is on promethezine for morning sickness? I've been told to take one 25mg table a night before bed but all this does is help the nausea during the night when it isn't as bad and then by the morning and for the rest of the day I'm feeling awful again!

Is anyone else on a higher dose? I don't know if the doctor can increase it to more tablets a day or if he will put me on something else.

Thanks Smile

Hi @thinkythonk I've been on promethezine since approx 8 weeks pregnant and am now 34 weeks. On my pack it says "one to be taken at night, can repeat dose in morning if necessary". However, underneath that it has a warning that this medicine can make you sleepy so I never tried it.

Perhaps worth a go if you know you can sleep in the day if needed, otherwise head back to the GP as you can take this in combination with other anti emetics.

Good luck!

Thanks @happydays00 that's so helpful! Is it the 25mg you are on? If so I might try taking one on a morning I don't have work and see how it makes me feel.

Have you found that taking one at night actually helps for the whole of the following day?

I was on these since around 13 weeks however was prescribed 25mg 3 times a day. I started with 3 a day and as weeks went on took 2 then 1 and I'm now 21 weeks and don't need any at all.

They do state they can make you drowsy however I never had problems with this xx
