Seeing heartbeat at 9w chances of a mc?

Hey ladies,

I have suffered 2 mc's one at 6 weeks the other at 8, yesterday I saw my baby's heartbeat and it was measuring 9+4 days. Does the risk of another mc drop after you have seen the baby's heartbeat? I cant relax and always on edge at every pain i feel 🤦🏻‍♀️ has anyone else been in this situation? x

Firstly, I'm so sorry for your losses, and secondly congratulations. I've not been in the same situation but I'm pregnant after IVF and was also quite anxious about miscarriage, so looked up quite a lot of stats that might reassure you.
According to research cited on Tommy's, the chance of miscarriage drops to 10% once a heartbeat has been detected at 6 or 7 weeks, but according to the miscarriage association seeing a heartbeat at 8 weeks increases the chance of a continuing pregnancy by 98% for women with a history of recurrent miscarriage. I know that you probably won't be able to relax until after the 12 week scan (I certainly didn't) but hope this reassures you that the odds are in your favour. Flowers

Hi, maybe having a look at this link might help. You can enter the date of your last period and it'll show you exactly where you are at. Basically, once you get to 9 weeks, the risk of future miscarriage is as low as it's going to get. I'd say there's every reason for optimism. spacefem.com/pregnant/mc.php
